Back2friday Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 (edited) Hi im having some issues with the sound in game. The voices of npc's are kinda low even though its at full in settings. (i lowered almost all other options for this to be louder) I saw some posts saying to increase the volume in the ini file. Changing fVal2=1.0000 to 2.0000 or 4.0000. But this does not seem to work for me. I also saw another post saying to change a settings in the windows sound settings. So the properties of the sound and to enable 'Loudness Equalization'. THough this seems to work, kinda, making the voices and ambient sound louder, but now the magic effects are toned down and spanking sounds in x animations are also toned down. (like its reduces sudden loud sounds) What is going on here? How can i solve this and have all sounds not being manipulated by windows? Also the current format is - 16 bit 44100 hz CD quality Edited November 19, 2025 by Back2friday
traison Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 As far as I know this is a known problem in Skyrim, but there's things that make it worse: Audio volume is calculated from the camera position rather than the character position. Mods that zoom in for dialogue like alternate conversation camera makes this far more pronouced, because the camera can be all up in their grill, but the volume is like they're standing 100m away (which they probably are). Zooming is a fov override, it usually doesn't move the actual camera. Incorrect speaker setup in Windows and/or the game. Having 5.1 or 7.1 enabled for a 2.1 or 2 speaker setup mutes all sounds straight in front of you, because you're missing the front center speaker. I wonder if some wizard has already made a mod to move the "microphone" from the camera to the PC's head. That would be an instant download from me I think. 13 minutes ago, Back2friday said: Loudness Equalization This is a horrible workaround.

I did disabled all those enhancer stuff in windows and tv, but now i have to turn my soundbar volume up.. ok np... but then now the magic sounds are extreme loud 🙃 I can not play like this at night times as magic casting will be way too loud for neighbors. Lowering fVal6=0.5000 to fVal6=0.1000 does nothing, same db.
