Back2friday Posted November 6, 2025 Posted November 6, 2025 So i just discoverd z fighting on mountains and some lakes from High Hrothgar entrance view (where you can see bleaks fall barrow). Yea yea i know im late. Things is after doing some research i found an ini settings that should reduce this effect. Before i did this i compared my ini files to the vanilla ini file which is set on ultra. Now im seeing some stuff are not correct. For example on the vanilla i get: fTreeLoadDistance=75000.0000 On my Mo2 ini i see: fTreeLoadDistance=57344.0000 If this is done by Bethini then im getting rid of it right now, because im pretty sure i have done nothing in there except changing shadow distance to 8000 and that was a while ago and i have not touched that mod since. Is dyndolod able to change these kind of settings? I used dyndolod before, ran it couple times and got rid of it. Are mods even able to change mo2's ini files? Now if i want to reset the ini files by just deleting the mo2 ini, will i get issues with mo2/ingame/mods ?? Because the only thing i remembered changing was iMaxDesired=10000 and ShadowDistance=10k to 8k and putting bDisableAutoVanityMode=1 in Skyrim.ini

Regular Bethini is missing values, and places some values in the wrong ini files. Bethini Pie is the only one that actually supports Skyrim SE/AE, but I never got around to testing/using it - I made my own ini editor before this. Almost every list of Skyrim SE/AE ini settings you find online is different, suggesting no one really knows what goes where. My application uses merged lists, where only the settings that people agree on are usable. This has obvious downsides. 3 hours ago, Back2friday said: ...because im pretty sure i have done nothing in there except changing shadow distance to 8000 and that was a while ago and i have not touched that mod since. As far as I know, the Bethini "ultra" preset is not the same as the vanilla "ultra" preset if that's what you're getting at. There's a separate set of presets that match the vanilla ones. Personally I would start with the "high" vanilla or bethini preset, and adjust manually from there. Shadow map resultions for instance at the high end are a real performance drain for quite miniscule benefit. 3 hours ago, Back2friday said: Is dyndolod able to change these kind of settings? Since ini settings can be changed from Papyrus, any hat, shoe, ring or dildo mod can change your screen saturation, grass density and tutorial tooltip settings. 3 hours ago, Back2friday said: Are mods even able to change mo2's ini files? Depends on what you mean by that. If you mean the ini files in MO2's profiles directory then those are your Skyrim ini files, so yes. If you mean some other ini files then yes if that mod contains a dll. 3 hours ago, Back2friday said: Now if i want to reset the ini files by just deleting the mo2 ini, will i get issues with mo2/ingame/mods ? ENB requires ini changes. CS is very ini dependant, but probably works the best with a vanilla ini. Personally I wouldn't delete the ini files, because the ones the game generates are different from the preset ones in Bethini and the vanilla Skyrim Launcher. Last I tested it, the vanilla presets in Bethini are actually the real vanilla preset inis. So what I'd do instead, is hit that vanilla "high" preset button in Bethini and go from there. 4 hours ago, Back2friday said: Because the only thing i remembered changing was iMaxDesired=10000 and ShadowDistance=10k to 8k and putting bDisableAutoVanityMode=1 in Skyrim.ini As long as the files haven't been scrambled too much, WinMerge can show you what you've changed. Keep in mind though that changes made by the following things will not be visible there: Ini changes made by ini files included in mods. MO2 merges these during runtime presumably. Ini changes made in Papyrus. Ini changes made through a mod like ConsoleUtilSSE. (maybe) Use the GetINISetting console command if you want to query current values. Compare them to your ini file settings to spot dynamic changes. (maybe) help getini 1 getinisetting "iMinGrassSize:Grass"
Grey Cloud Posted November 6, 2025 Posted November 6, 2025 Bethini has a vanilla settings radio button under the basic tab. Not sure about Betnini PIE.
