[Mod][XCL][0.23.0] Gay Mod

I gave this mod a try and I can't seem to get any encounters going while male. I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that there just aren't very many opportunities for male to 'loiter' in places the way females have.

Generally I try to go through different encounters, nothing pops up and eventually I get turned female and end up playing an older version of the usual game.

Not a criticism, just something I thought might be worth looking into if you continue to update this mod.

Edit:

I had set up the mod manually, but thought maybe using the mod loader app might make it work better. However, when I did it had this message. Could there be a version conflict or is it a false flag?

I can understand the first part of this as you need to be within a certain fem/masc threshold to have random male encounters (I believe it starts low likelihood at 80).
The second part I don't get... I have enabled loiter for males in all the locations and is the way I've been testing the NPC encounters.

I'm also not certain what you mean by setting up the mod manually... the .twee files included have to be ran through a program to create the modded html file.

That version conflict is not a false flag. The most recent game version the mod is compatible with is 0.23, and I include a copy of that version of the html in the Google Drive download folder.

*Edit: I do now see where the version confusion may have come into play, I haven't actually updated the version compatibility on the main mod page. With how the site works I'll have to fix that on next release.

I'm new to this game and didn't quite understand that the mod manager needs to be used. This is the first mod I attempted, and so I figured like other games I could just manually drop the files into the game folder and they'd work. :confounded: Plus I thought I'd need an older version of the game, which likely didn't help.

Now that I know how this works, I'll put the proper version of the game in the folder and use the mod manager. I'm willing to bet things will go a lot smoother.

Edit:

Okay I was able to get it working... mostly. The game runs fine and male-male encounters happen. Everything looks good until my character sleeps for the first night, at which point I get a bunch of 'infinite loop' messages. I thought maybe it was a load order issue, so tried rearranging things to put the X-Change stuff on top, all the mod stuff after and then the patch. Didn't work. :(

I'm a total noob at this, so sorry for potentially dumb questions. One thing I was wondering though.. is 23.6 a new version that maybe isn't supported? I swear it was 23.5 when I first looked but now the game says it's 23.6 :/

Edit Edit:

Oh, looks like the infinite loop is a thing that can happen with the new version? Saw it reported on Page 12 of the main game threat, and that was on Feb 3 so I guess it's still a thing.

The load order is set by the files. Regardless of what order you load them in, the mod loader will always put them in the loading position I set for them when creating the file. If you encounter a bug, just post a screenshot here and I'll try to re-upload the patches file as they get resolved.

0.23 is older than 0.23.5 which is older than 0.23.6. The game version is always changing, and it takes about a day for me to manually review the 50+ passage changes when an update occurs. Because of this, I have reserved updating the version this mod operates on for larger game updates (like if a new event is released).

I was able to get the 22 version, but I have no idea where to get 23.0 version. Is there a resource for that somewhere, that I can go get the specific version of the game needed?

Guess I'm a dumbass. Can't get the mod to work at all. Not your fault author, the whole system isn't very intuitive

I had to go through stages until I actually understand how this game could be modded. It basically goes like this:

1) Download the original game

2) Download the Mod Loader

3) Download the mod (let's say it's this one).

4) With the game in its own folder, put all the zipped mod files in that same folder (including the .HTML file)

5) Run the Mod Loader and point to the .23 file and not the newest one.

6) Now you can unpack all the mod files in the location, and the mod loader will do it's thing.

Thanks for the help, sort of got it to work - I think? The game pops up with quite a few error messages at the start and it crashes every couple of days. Also seem to have a constant person breathing in every scene. Haven't found any gay content yet but I'll keep playing.

Any news ?

The bedroom scenes are pretty mind numbing with the quantity of repetitive work, my mind keeps wanting to wander onto other things. Clipchamp also forced a OneDrive sync update with many errors and issues which has slowed down the speed of video/audio editing significantly.

In terms of progress (approximate):
Alina - 90%

Cassidy - 35%

Ella - 60%

Lana - 0%

Liya - 45%

Mia - 60%

Dante - I still want to figure out how his dynamics work, his will just be disabled for now.

I've written a scene for Alexia making fun of you the morning after she's seen who you invited over (I need to extend this to be if she interrupts the scene as well).
I need to alter the sex bedroom intro passages for stepsis and stepdad.
I need to alter the sex bedroom interrupt passages for stepsis and stepdad.

I realized not too long ago I will likely need to start getting into how the character perceives their sexuality and expression, especially now that you can accidentally "out" yourself. The plan was to have the main character interpret themselves as straight, but with growing conflict- I need to be careful with not letting the character get too comfortable being bi otherwise it sort of throws a wrench in the artificial "wrongness" I'm trying to create.

In other news:
I got a skillcheck minigame working using the GUI elements that already in exist in the game and intend to utilize them in the Cassidy scene I've somewhat drafted dialog for.
The primary code framework has been built out for this scene, I just need to do media and writing.

I have no intentions of releasing this scene before the bedroom scenes are finished.

When clicking invite a guy over.

Ope, lmao- That's embarrassing. I don't know how I missed this in testing. This has been fixed.

So just to confirm, the current supported version is .23.0?  Does anybody have a copy of it or a download link for it?

It is included in the mod folder.

So I download everything, I put it on a seperate hard drive and pointed my mod loader as a new base file.  I added the mods to it and ran them then using the modded HTML I am not getting any pictures at all.  Not sure if I did something wrong but it looks like this.

Two things are wrong here. Both need to be corrected for this to work:

1. You're missing the base game media. You will have to download the base game first, otherwise you won't have base game pictures.
2. You're either not running the modded HTML or you have "Gay Content: Disabled" in settings. The "Gay Content" setting option will appear when you are running the modded HTML. If you do not see this option, you are not running the modded HTML.

** Another thing to note is that if you are just telling the mod loader to look at the new HTML, it expects base game media to be in the same folder.

To get the base game media files do I just down the current .23.6 and replace the HTML file with the .23.0 in your download?

I am running the modded HTLM once loaded your mod.

I tried that and now getting this when trying to end/sleep day 1.

Interesting. Well it looks like you have base game media now, and some sort of mod is installed if you're running into code breaks upon sleep. I'll have to investigate further... I haven't done a lot of testing with the unsupported characters recently. Let me see if I can reproduce this.

This is on a separate install so the only mods I am running is the gay mod.  I am also trying something different because when I ran the modded HTML it went to .23.6 but the base HTML is 23.0.
