If anyone can help I would really really appreciate it and many thanx in advance for anyone that can.

You wont want to hear this but I'd suggest you have too many mods and some are conflicting, especially some of the sexlab ones you have.  Spawning events can cause also random ctd's with conflicting mods.  BOSS can't always put things in the right order either if not all are recognised.  Check for known conflicts by mod authors as well, I saw you have PCEA which has one or two known conflicts.  Sorry can't be much more help but it impossible to diagnose without more info, I'd disable the mods you can do without and have a crack until its stable then add in one at a time.   Good luck

It would help to know your system specs.

Here is a video for you which explains where you can find them.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuG8BC_J0vU

Also i recommend to clean your skyrim masterfiles. Another video for you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fw3g_N1jcZQ

You can also do that with your mods but read the mod description first. Some Mods shouldn't be cleaned http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOQO2S6HDBw

To upload your papyrus logs you should add them to an archive first. How to do that? http://youtu.be/mUsRmg-CsMQ?t=1m41s (hard to find a proper video for that) :s

Last but not least some tips..

Turn antialiasing and anisotropic filtering to off!

Keep your load order as small as possible.

Don't use to many "High Res" textures.

Don't deinstall script heavy mods - this will definitely break your savegame at some point.

Always read the mod description! If it's hard for you to read them on your screen - print them!

Recommended Mods:

Safety Loads: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/46465/?

ENBoost: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/38649/?   Video

Stable uGridsToLoad: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/41592/?  (Don't change your uGridsToLoad)

Optimizer Textures: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/12801/?

That's all for now.. (i think).

Thanks Aiko for the vid links to use TES 5 Edit, they were helpful and I have used it to clean all the Official Master Files in the way instructed in the video. Not sure what antialiasing and anisotropic is or where to find it, if its in the vanilla launcher I would not know as I've only ever use SKSE to launch Skyrim.

My O S is Windows 8, Specs are in attached screen shot.

I already had Safety Load & ENBoost installed, I have an Intel graphics card.

I've installed the Stable uGridsToLoad following your advice to not change them.

Printing descriptions is not an idea lost on Me however I have no way of doing so as I quite simply can't afford a printer, however I do always take the time to read thru them thoroughly as well as any accompanying Read Me files. Now that being said, I have done such with the Optimizer Textures and a lot of what is written in the description/directions although much of it is pretty technical and outside of My current level of technical understand so I do have it in a folder but have not yet used it.

I do already know how to create a 7z archive, hopefully I can also attach on containing the current papyrus logs. (Yes I was able to attach them, they are from just before I made this original post to the test I just did, which CTD'd as soon as I appeared in game world.)

I took your advice again and uninstalled the High Res Texture Packs that can be downloaded from Steam as well as the Unofficial High Res Patch.

Also as was going thru the tech-support looking at threads about papyrus logs one such thread mentioned a couple of mods I was using that are known to cause CTDs so I also uninstalled those, (I do manual install/uninstall everything btw, mainly because I don't know how to use the tools for such things and they confuse the shit outta Me).

Those mods being:

Alternate Start - Live A Deviant Life v1.2 (very lightly scripted)

Devious Devices - For the Masses - DB - Outfits

Devious Devices - FtMOutfits DB merge

As well as the following armor/clothing mods:

Leeloo.esp

Leeloo_Monokini.esp

Malo_Vidar.esp

Nocturnal's Robe.esp

Obviously due the removal of the above mods My load order has changed and is also attached.

After cleaning all the Official Master Files (excluding Skyrim.esm) as the video instructed, removing the mods I've just mentioned I'm now getting CTD when first appearing in game world and is taking longer to launch then before.

Is there anything else I can do? Thank you for your help and thanx in advance for any further help you could offer.

Try to load a older savegame and tell me if you still CTD after loading.

/Edit - i just read your post again. Sorry i'm a bit busy..

Anyway...

I don't know if skyrim is compatible with Win8 - apart from that Win8 is crap.

Intel Graphics Card? Does that mean Onboard GPU? o__O Oh dear.. If that is true i wonder that skyrim works at all.

Posted

When I 1st bought Skyrim, I always get the hard disks, it was the day the  "Game of the Year" Edition hit the shelves, the guys at E.B. Games where I got it said that Skyrim IS fully compatible with Win8 as that's what they use, and I have only used Win8 for Skyrim and only recently have been encountering the issues I've mentioned in this thread, although I fully agree Win8 is total crap it came already installed on My system. I would upgrade back to Win7, but I really don't wanna wait a wk for "updates" to download & install then have to take yet another wk to reinstall everything on My system....have been considering it tho....

Now, that being said, I have just tried to load 4 different older games, 2 flickered into the game world then it crashed, 1 loaded into Riverwood was running for about 3 minutes then froze, the 4th one did the but in the Temple of Talos in Windhelm. I've included the papyrus logs in a 7z archive.

My graphics card is: Intel® HD Graphics 4000

.....don't think it has onboard GPU....I looked for it (for the past 3.5 hrs) and couldn't find it any where on My system.

Windows 8.1 makes everything really unstable, Skyrim is no exception.

Go to... C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\

And then right click your exe files there and go to Properties then Compatibility then set them to run in Compatibility mode for Windows 7. Do that for TESV.exe, SkyrimLauncher.exe, and skse_loader.exe. Hell, you may want to do it for Steam too.

Once you do that, see if it helped. Either way, as a test make a brand new save - not from any kind of save start or anything - brand new, carriage ride and all. See if you're stable then or if you're still CTDing just as much.

The next step I would take, which is the dreaded step I always have to take when I get an unstable game in order to get it rock solid again... Is Uninstall all your mods, delete your Skyrim directory, then reinstall. If you used NMM you should have all of the mods backed up anyways. Then install the DLC's (minus the official HD texture DLC - that's known to cause problems) and make a new save and see if you have CTD's. If you do, it's a hardware issue. If not, continue.

Next, re-install your mods that you consider essential and can't live without. See if you're stable for a few hours. if you are, add a new batch of mods 5 at a time and see if you're stable for a few hours. If you can keep adding mods until you're back to normal and remain stable then good job. Otherwise if you suddenly start CTDing again then you only have 5 mods which are likely the culprit. Uninstall one at a time and see which it was. Once you get the problem mod eliminated you can make sure you're stable again, then try continuing the process. It's dreadful, but it's the only way.

I've found that my game become incredibly unstable when I did TES5 cleaning on my ESM files. I don't suggest doing it... Also, may game is much more stable without SexLab. And... If you have a bunch of mods with heavy scripting your Skyrim will just break and start to CTD due to papyrus overload. Limit your amount of heavily scripted mods to about 2-3, more than that and you're getting to where you're going to be risking it.

Also, never uninstall a scripted mod mid-save. Scripts are baked into saves and it'll cause horrendous problems. If you install a scripted mod make sure you made a save before you did, and then either revert to that save when you need to uninstall it or just start a new character.

BTW I think Intel 4000 is onboard?

Heck, I wanna' thank you for pointing this out to me. THANKS! I've been modding my Bethesda games for almost a year now and have never run across this. Not even with "performance" searches. This alone is such a godsend for someone playing on a lower powered machine or laptop. And the texture reduction isn't even noticeable whatsoever on a smaller screen. This is awesome.

Now to optimize FO3, FNV and Oblivion, too! :D

Thanx for the heads-up about Win8.1 ....I've ALWAYS avoided the update every time its popped up on My screen I've continuously clicked the "Remind Me In 14 Days" since it first started appearing, I've NO intention what-so-ever  of using that "update" and its really good to know My suspicions about it were correct without having to install them to find out, so again thank you for that.

So that being said, would you still recommend switching everything to a Win7 compatibility?

I have for sometime been considering a full & complete uninstall/reinstall, but I can't see the option to uninstall Skyrim anywhere....I have tried completely deleting My Skyrim folder once before, but it did not reinstall when I set Steam into on line mode (I usually keep it in off line mode as I prefer it that way) and found nothing in Steam to click for a reinstall. I get totally lost trying to navigate thru Steam.

I have been making a back-up folder of all the mods I am using and keeping the back-up folder updated to match the current Data folder, just for consistency. I used this folder to replace the Data folder I had deleted when attempting a reinstall of Skyrim.

I did initially take Aiko's advice and remove all the HD texture packs, although even rereading the Optimizer Texture Description/Read Me/Instructions the technical stuff within it still makes My head spin as I have no clue as to what the author is referring to....except for the odd comment about .dds files.

Also, since first posting this thread My Load Order has changed a little bit in the way of removed mods, such as the HD Texture Packs, as well as a few armors/clothing mods, the Alternate Start - Lead A Deviant Life (lightly scripted), Devious Devices For The Masses DB and Devious Devices FtM DB Merge.

Updated Load Order Attached.

Ummm....dumb non-techie question.....what's GPU?

Posted

GPU is graphics processor unit. It's your graphics card. Pretty much anything with "Intel HD graphics" in it's name is onboard (integrated) graphics. It's generally non-upgradeable since it's part of the main processor and/or motherboard. And it also tends to be underpowered, especially when it comes to games like Skyrim.

I've been playing on a laptop with integrated graphics as well. I have to keep all textures low-res and go for a bare minimum of scripted mods to have a stable and playable game. The low-res part is fine since lower resolution textures look the same on a smaller screen as the higher res versions do. :D And since your graphics are run mostly on the CPU having less computation to render textures frees up the ability for the processor to run scripts.

If your screen isn't very big the "Vanilla Reduced Textures" can help your game quite a bit. You can get those mods from the Nexus.....http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/14504/?

At this point I'd suggest a complete re-install, to use reduced texture sizes and to keep scripting to a minimum. Then running the texture optimizer, which seems to have helped my game quite a bit so far (and it didn't even touch the Vanilla Reduced Textures so those are apparently already optimized).

Thanx for the explanation about the GPU, that I can & do understand now :) Thanx also for the link, I've read over the description, I'll take a closer look at the mods themselves as well.

Also, as stated in My last post, I have been thinking about a complete reinstall but have nothing to activate it beginning on Steam....and in the vanilla game launcher I don't see an option for uninstalling.  I would really like to try the Textures Optimizer  App (which I am guessing I would need for any mods I was using that contained textures even if using the vanilla reduced textures) but am still having complications fully understanding the directions of its use and remember the warning about the possibility of it creating a huge a mess of the Data folder, which I already seem to be having.

Posted

The optimizer is super, super straightforward. Just tell it to GO! then have a coffee while you wait (or surf on LL :D). It's almost entirely automated. You just choose the file path to your game's [data] folder, maybe check a couple options then tell it to start. It does everything all on it's own after that. Cool little app actually and I'll be using it on my other Bethesda games for sure (Morrowind, Oblivion, FO3 and FONV). If it makes a difference with Skyrim I figure it'll make a difference on those as well.

Somewhere in your Skyrim folder there should be an uninstall option. Just be sure to delete everything Skryim so nothing carries over into your new installation.

Ok, thanx, :) I'll look fo rthe uninstall in My Skyrim folder, if/when I find it I'll first try using the texture optimizer, to make sure I'm using it correctly, as I would like to properly uninstall & reinstall Syrim, but the one issue I had before with doing that is I couldn't find a way for Steam to reinstall Skyrim after I had uninstalled it. I spent two days looking for the right place to no avail and am a little concerned about running into the same problem of not being able to reinstall.

Posted

In your Steam library right click Skyrim and at the bottom of the list you should see "delete local content". It'll ask if you want to or not afterward so tell it to delete it. After that go to documents/my games/Skyrim and delete the Skyrim folder. This should get rid of it all.

Then just download it from Steam again.
