FurryNoseBooper Posted September 17, 2025 Posted September 17, 2025 ok, so I decided to to oSB and the performance and load times are second to none, lightyears ahead of original starbound (with might be related) so, like the title says, NPCs are not walking or talking, they just stand there (menacingly, lol) until a random mob just kill them, any randomly generated NPC is braindead and scripted NPCs with (non-story) questlines simply don't spawn enemies attack normally, but no matter what, they SxB animation don't start, I also can't lie on modded forniture, I even trying spawning "SxB beds" with admin commands, the ring doesn't appear some things seem to work, "pent up" status effect is permanently active because no animation plays, "unsafe day" also appears, but I have no way of knowing if it does anything or not, no NPCs or mobs to "interact" with also certain furniture and interactable objects play their animation, but they don't do anything with the above if anyone else in the homeworld of the protectorate (earth) still plays this game, please help me starbound.log

Similar issues can affect other mods. For instance there are two Sexbound's APIs installed, and one maybe the older, incompatible with other mods you have. Make sure to only use Reborn or Classic, not both. A lot of local mods! Namely, one mod in particular, has bad patches that cause issues with dialogue and other modules, of Starbound itself! The Yoru Race and Support has some patches that cause issues. Normally, this issue gets exposed as NPCs not being able to be interacted with by pressing E, they won't talk back, and sometimes will straight up kill them on the spot. This is how Vanilla handles the issue... However, them not doing *ANYTHING* is usually a deeper problem, likely reflecting issues in "bmain.lua", the main AI File for NPCs. As for that, we'll take a look deeper down the log, and well see, there are a fuckton of errors before Sexbound even loads in. The Sexbound breaking issue is probably Teratophilia Scenes, if there is more to it, we'll be unable to find out until you remove the outdated mod. For other issues however i see something called "StarLoader with experimental features". I hope my explanations and pointer help you in fixing your game and good grief that's a ton of errors... good thing that I'm using oSB, which DOES work with dupes by only loading the first verion of the mod disabling the subsequentially loaded dupe either way, I think this is related to SxB somehow because the combat works normally, but anything related to SxB is only partially working, and I'm not so sure anymore what's causing the weird NPC behaviour, they often don't even spawn anymore, and the few times they do, they just stand completely still in front of a house or something like that

SOME progress was made, after cutting off a bunch of repeated mods and some less useful ones, NPCs now are spawning again, now they are dying when press E, which is more in-line with the normal errors, so I guess I can fix it with other post's answers now either way, if you want to help, there's the log starbound.log
