[Solved] Skyrim gamepad???

Recommended Posts

Exactly, as the title says, I found my Skyrim enabled for Gamepad, which has always been on keyboard .

I can no longer access the setting menu game . How do I reset it for my keyboard?

Games in the past 15 years or so (when Consolitis started spreading) have usually worked such that if you have a controller connected to your computer, the game will assume you're going to use it instead of the keyboard/mouse. Some games are smart enough to detect the last input and switch on the fly. I would not assume Skyrim was able to do this, but it might be.

SkyrimPrefs.ini

[MAIN]

bGamepadEnable=0

Remember that if you're using MO2, the SkyrimPrefs.ini file is not in your Windows user profile. Also keep in mind that any mod in MO2 can contain an ini file that overrides ini settings.

There's a mod for that,

Auto Input Switcher

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/54309

No more having to decide between one or the other,

no more having to remember to unplug the controller,

Being able to use both at anytime during play,

And really no more issues.

Its really awesome having access to all the controllers at the same time.

Edit,

BUT BUT BUT

How do you even use all the keys needed for all the overhaul mods?

Pft easy, create a controller profile on Steam controller page and use layored key switcher keys.

Example hold LB on controller now all the 8 face keys have second function.

Literally have plenty of keys for all sorts of mods.

I don't use MO2, I use good old NMM 😋

The mystery remains as to why it was activated without permission to do so (modification of the INI file). 😡

Thank's @traison . fix it
