Fraying9981 Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 Hi, I've installed this mod, Lion Thane Stronghold, which adds a really nice castle player home. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/115037 The issue I face is the interior is extremely dark, like pitch dark. I'm using ELFX and ENB with Picho preset, so it might be related. Still, I couldn't find anyone on the Nexus page complaining about that so I'm wondering if I'm missing something about the mod itself. Interior should look like this, but for me it looks close to pitch dark except where the fire place is. traison Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 (edited) So if we assume disabling ELFX and ENB doesn't help then what I'd do is the following: Open the mod cell in the CK. Remember the cell form id. Find the form id of the cell light template used by this cell. Find a light which you suspect is dark in-game. Find its reference id and the form id. Open xEdit, don't change the load order. Look up the cell by its id, make a list of the mods changing it. Check the cell lighting template, and append the mods changing it to your list. Look up the light reference id, append the mods changing it to your list. Look up the light form id, append the mods changing it to your list. You now know why the place is dark. anjenthedog Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 FWIW, in lieu of or in addition to what's been said, this mod *might be useful for brightening overly darkened interiors Interior Vs Exterior Brightness Settings SSE https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/34760

I installed it, enabled the mod, set the light to max for all interiors. and i don't see much difference for now. it seems other SE users have the same issue, so perhaps an update of the mod is required so it works properly. From what I saw, it doesn't change the SkyUI MCM but adds a new MCM with a few options for interior/exterior sliders that adjust the brightness. but i haven't seen much differences. anjenthedog Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 (edited) If using CS, it may be overriding the brightness changes. Not sure about ENB or some other mods that can affect lighting. For me,(I use CS as well as interior exterior brightness) that overriding also seems to be location specific. In, some places, the interior exterior brightness mod works as expected. In other places (usually some player homes, caves, and ruins in my experience) , it does nothing at all. Also 1st person seems to get overridden more easily than third person view. idk why. And by "more easily" I really mean basically all the time. Could be some shortcoming of improved first person camera, which I also use), but idk for sure. Edited September 5, 2025 by anjenthedog

I would be concerned if a brightness adjusting mod replaced the SkyUI MCM in one capacity or another. On 9/3/2025 at 6:13 AM, Fraying9981 said: ...but i haven't seen much differences. That would be because all this mod does is adjust the gamma value with the sg console command. If your scene is already dark/black, gamma will do very little if anything to remedy the problem. Brightness could do something, but it's also going to flatten the image and blow the entire thing out when you're back in a cell with normal lighting. This entire thing is a bandaid at best. The real fix would be what I suggested in my previous post. 36 minutes ago, anjenthedog said: Also 1st person seems to get overridden more easily than third person view. idk why. This seems like a problem to me. Not the way it's supposed to be. Quite curious though, not sure I've ever seen that in Skyrim before. 1
