Meekr0 Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 Obviously, I know of Improved Camera, but honestly? I've tried using it, didn't like it - maybe it is a matter of getting the right config, but personally I fidgeted with it a bit and the results really were not that consistent, either clipping into the other npcs during scenes or being too far; That, however, I could probably live with - but I just can't get it to behave properly when using furniture. On some of them, the PC will rotate alongside your camera, completely breaking alignment. For others though I just can't get the camera to work at all - it just behaves as if I was still standing (personally happened the most with Pama's Deadly Furnitures. Again, maybe it's on me for not configuring it correctly, so if anyone has a config that works for them, I'd be more than happy to be proven wrong. But, what I would like to know, is whether that is really the only acceptable camera for AE? I'm running a dual install, the other being 1.5.97, and there I'm using IFPV with a modified config - and honestly, it does all I'd ever want of it, other than how it sometimes can bug out a little. It does not seem, however, that it will ever see an update to 1.6+, as it requires .NET Script Framework. Is there anything similar that might work on AE? Now, if there are really no other options, at least I can just go back to SSE, but I was hoping that AE is becoming stable enough for modding to consider a switch, but while I can excuse some minor mods not being converted, I just can't see myself ever being able to play it without a decent camera for anything SL related

That's either the fov.fscripted, neardistance.fscripted or camera.fscriptedposy values being wrong. A thing to keep in mind with the neardistance values is that adjusting it may cause distant mountains to z-fight. It's an engine limitation, and it's most likely not unique to the Creation Engine. 4 hours ago, Meekr0 said: On some of them, the PC will rotate alongside your camera, completely breaking alignment. Not sure what you mean by that, but to actually attach the camera to your character's face, set the headbob section booleans to 1 and up the float values as much as you can before motion sickness becomes an issue. Consider switching idle and motion animations to ones that do not move the head so much to alleviate the effect during normal gameplay. 4 hours ago, Meekr0 said: But, what I would like to know, is whether that is really the only acceptable camera for AE? As far as I know there's no alternative to Improved Camera. I don't know about IFPV, other than that the .net framework kept me from using it. It didn't seem like a good idea to inject the .net framework, so I stayed away from it. JOP is even older and that mod is basically faking it by using the 3rd person mesh as the 1st person mesh. JOP causes issues of its own that still show up for people, even those that have never even used JOP. The "fix" posted at the bottom of that thread not a fix but rather a workaround.
