VenomousOuroboros Posted June 18, 2025 Posted June 18, 2025 Go ahead and give me your best theories: What in the hell causes parts of the environment to blink in and out like this? https://ibb.co/RTT88hbj
subaverage Posted June 18, 2025 Posted June 18, 2025 (edited) This is because of missing or damaged precombines. If a mod did this you could search through your load whether you find mods that change certain areas/ cells. You can try to use something like this: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/46403 as long as you did not try use this: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/90864 When you want to play with precombines as this would be the usual way your Fallout4.ini should contain the following entries under [General]: bUseCombinedObjects=1 bUsePreCreatedSCOL=1 bPreCulledObjectsEnabled=1 Edited June 18, 2025 by subaverage 1
travelmedic Posted June 18, 2025 Posted June 18, 2025 In addition to what @subaverage said (and they are correct), it could also be a mod conflict - two or more mods editing the same area and thus disrupting the precombines. Load order might fix that (maybe) if you know about it ahead of time, but I wouldn't go switching up your load order in the middle of a game. The advantage of precombines is they put a lot less strain on your GPU and will load in your game a lot more efficiently. The disadvantage is that any mod that alters terrain or buildings can mess things up a lot if the mod author didn't generate and include new precombines. Or the case of a conflict. Because I use mods that alter many/most of the settlement areas, and add other new points of interest, I usually play with bUseCombinedObjects=0 and those other settings that subaverage showed you also set to 0. If that's the case for you too, then the PRP mod may not be for you (I don't use it personally, but many do). I do play on a fairly strong computer though. Ultimately you'll have to decide between performance and how much you want to mod and see what works for you. 1
VenomousOuroboros Posted June 25, 2025 Author Posted June 25, 2025 @subaverage @travelmedic: Just want to thank you a little more directly for your insight. Funny enough (or maybe I'm just retarded), the culprit was the Previsibines Repair Pack Stable Branch. Considering I'm still rocking the 1.10.163 w/o CC content, I probably should've read the fucking description, but that's my intellect for ya. 1
travelmedic Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 Glad you got it figured out! PRP is a savior for many, but a curse for others.
