Also I get a message in the corner saying it's an incorrect version of xpmsse with SOS active but it's the correct version with it disabled?

I'm using the latest version but for some reason this is happening?

Do you have the SE version of SOS as opposed to the LE version?

Yes, I have the SE. I accidentally used the LE version and it straight up told me I was using the LE version so I uninstalled it then installed SOS SE

That message is coming from SOS_Maintenance.pex. The version number it displays comes from SKSE:

ok = SKSE.GetPluginVersion("SchlongsOfSkyrim") >= minSOSVersion

Options:

  1. Something was overwritten SOS_Maintenance.pex and changed the logic.
  2. The dll is not loaded.
  3. The dll that is loaded has a different name, and the SOS_Maintenance script is out of date or otherwise incorrect.

GetPluginVersion returns -1 when it can't find the plugin by its name. I don't remember how it determines the name of modules though, whether it lets the module report its own name, or if it uses the image name.

Start with skse64.log, make sure SchlongsOfSkyrim.dll is loaded successfully. If it is, make sure SOS_Maintenance.pex is not getting overwritten.

I'm running into the same issue, is there a way to tweak the .pex file to make it skip the check? (I see the .psc source code, but am unsure how to convert that to .pex...)

The CK has a GUI for the Papyrus compiler. Most people use that I suppose.

Sure, but this does not seem like a good idea to me. The dll is there for a reason.

You need to downgrade your Skyrim Special edition game to 1.5.97.
To do this, enable Steam console mode by either pressing Windows + R, typing "steam://nav/console" on Windows, or "steam steam://open/console" on Linux.
Then in your steam console, copy and paste
download_depot 489830 489831 7848722008564294070
and wait for it to download, then

download_depot 489830 489832 8702665189575304780
and wait for it to download, then

download_depot 489830 489833 2289561010626853674
and wait for it to download.
Navigate to the folder directories which will be indicated in the console, and copy these files to your Skyrim game directory. You will have successfully Retvrned to Tradition and downgraded to a less gay and retarded version of Skyrim, and the penises will load again.

As a forewarning, some mods such as JContainers will begin screaming that you're running the wrong version of Skyrim, so just manually install 1 or 2 mods which scream and make sure they are for the version of SKSE you are currently running (2.00.20).

SOS is compatible with 1170. It is not a reason to downgrade to 97.

This applies to every single game version. In fact, it's the reason why everyone in this thread is having issues - they're running the wrong version of SOS.
