Various bugs/questions about KW and stuff.

Guess I'll make my own thread here instead...most of these involve KW of course.

 

Only question I have that doesn't involve KW is, does anyone know what causes the game's settings to reset? It happens to me randomly, not frequent, but it's still really annoying. Anyways...

 

-KW stuff-

(I have Katie's Expansion version, btw)

 

Peeping Tom: He does what he's supposed to, yeah...but...that's it...apparently I can't interact with him, my sims don't react, he's just...there.

Rapists: These were always buggy for me, sometimes it happens, other times they poof before anything happens, one time they show up and my sim got ready, he just laughed and ran off without doing anything. Also is the number setting the percentage? I have it at 50 and...yeah he rarely shows up. lol

Pets: I have it set for cocks to always show, but...they...don't? Very rarely do they actually show up, and there were times where they just don't show up at all even during animations. (also I kinda wished more animals could be involved, got a raccoon lurking around in my game, can only pet it...lol)

Kinky Kraken: It like...KINDA works? Kraken is invisible, it also was happening ten bajillion times, I dunno, decided to turn it off. lol

 

Jiggle Physics: So, there is a physics mod on here, but...only for adults and young adults...and...for only certain animations? I tried searching but found nothing on it, but I swear on a much older version of KW, there was a physics mod that worked on general animations for female sims, teens included. Anyone know where to find that?

 

Aside from all of that...is that s3pe thing hard to deal with? Like, apparently that's the only way to get rid of curfews if you have teen/child sims...I also have scripts/animations and stuff from an older version of KW that won't work anymore and I was wondering if there was any way of getting them to work again using that. Scripting just gives me a massive headache though, and I think that's what the package editing stuff is all about. x_x

The only thing that I have seen do that is when you update the drivers for your Graphics adapter. When that happens, the version number of the driver changes, and the game detects that as a new graphics adapter. It resets the options so that it can be sure that the graphics settings will work with the new adapter.

 

What I always do is make a backup copy of my Options.ini file found in the "Documents \ Electronic Arts \ The Sims 3" folder. Then when I update the graphics drivers, I open the game, see that the options have been reset, and quit immediately. 

 

Unfortunately (fortunately?), the Options.ini file contains the value for the driver version, so if you just replace it with your backup, it will reset the options again. I copy the line for "lastdevice" from the NEW file, restore my backup of the options file, and then paste in the "lastdevice" line, so that I now have an Options.ini file that has all my saved settings, as well as the "lastdevice" line for the new version of the driver.

 

Or, that it was I used to do until I started using dxvk. There is info online about using that if you are interested. It provides two benefits for me. First, the "lastdevice" line never changes when I update my graphics drivers, or even the version of dxvk. Second, it uses far less memory for graphics than just letting the game use the drivers for my graphics adapter. To the tune of about 1GB of memory, so I have a lot more memory available for managing my large amount of CC/mods and large world populations.

hello joeynator , you can easily stop the curfew if you have NRAAS Retuner.Under Actor.Systems set the curfew starthour to 25 and voila no curfew anymore.

 

Nraas Retuner is a mighty tool for modding your sims to your gameplay.

I was told that won't actually stop it, though...? As for Rufus, just didn't know what to say there, I get confused easily. xD

I might try it at some point.

Jiggle physics: You mean where an animator goes into the file and adds movement to the breasts?  This isn't like Skyrim or other games where the character models have physics in the world. 

 

This means GRAVITY. The thing that causes fall damage, and ragdoll physics. That doesn't exist in the SIMS 3. Even walking is just an animation playing while the 'marker for that sim' moves at a set speed to give that illusion.

 

Welcome to the world of game modding - but best understand game capabilities before expectations get the better of you. That dictates what a mod creator can or can't do - and if they can - how it needs to work. You have selective memory concerning any mod that may have worked like some other games. It happens.

 

The Peeping Tom's only interaction when they are running their peeping script is to 'tease or dance' for them. This increases relationship where they eventually will join your sim. You need to use Kinky Worlds debug feature = Unlock to interact with them like a normal sim. I find unlock fixes a great many things in the world with the caveat it clears any queues of any sims involved with the reason for 'unlocking'.

 

My own 'mod creation' experience is slim to none with me trying to add a penis texture to a female skin. I eventually just copy and pasted an entire section from one skin for females that already had it and moved it to another - saved the file and it worked.

 

While I wanted to mod - like programing - it defeats the illusion because you understand all too clearly what you're seeing and how it works.

I think the modder may have removed that mod. I know that I have some mods from here that were removed, because the creator never got them working to their satisfaction and ended up deleting them. I don't think that mod was called anything like jiggle physics. I think it was called something like "boob physics".

I can't remember, but yeah it was a really old version of KW, seems like they removed a few other stuff, too...wished I knew how to add them back in...I have animations/scripts from the old version of KW but they no longer work...and that whole s3pe thing scares me. xD

I dunno then, I never downloaded any additional stuff, it was one download I remember and it was a really old version of KW. >.<

Maybe it was a compilation, I guess, I dunno. TwT

Yep. What I thought. Physics needs gravity. Kind of self explanatory.

As landess said, there was never any mod with in game physics rendered, however I don't really think that was the point of your question.

 

You remember correctly in the sense that there was a boob jiggle mod for ts3. I guess the creator must have deleted the post or it has been otherwise lost, but I still have that very file. And even the mod creator themselves called them physics, so... hm... could we try to be a little friendlier with people who are simply asking for help?

 

Anyway, here's the file from my archive. I havent tested it, though I don't think it should interfere with other mods unless they alter the basic sim animations. They may be a little extreme and cartoonish, however. You can give it a try and see if it is to your tastes.
