Phoenixking32 Posted April 3, 2025 Posted April 3, 2025 So I keep trying to install SL framework on skyrim. I installed the requisites listed, Followed the FNIS steps as instructed, but when I have SL Framework enabled and try to start SKSE, it keep saying this: A DLL plugin has failed to load correctly. If a new version of Skyrim was just released, the plugin needs to be updated. Please check the mod's webpage for updates. SexLabUtil.dll: reported as incompatible during load Continuing to load may result in lost save data or other undesired behaviors. Exit game? (yes highly suggested) Â I'm sure this has been asked hundreds of times but what am I missing or what do I need to add to fix this? I have been using the Vortex Mod Manager cause everyone says it is the best.Â
Just Don't Posted April 3, 2025 Posted April 3, 2025 Version of your game (product version of your game executable) Version of SKSE Version of Address Library Version of SL Framework They all must match, since they are made for specific versions of the previous element on that list. Without this info all I can guess is you got the wrong version of something in there.

I have the correct version of skyrim version 1.6.1170.0, SKSE64 version, the address library for 1.6, and the right version of SL Framework. Â
Just Don't Posted April 3, 2025 Posted April 3, 2025 And what's the version of SKSE and SL Framework? Also check you're installing SKSE correctly according to your mod manager, launch the game using the SKSE loader and make sure there are no other versions of any of the relevant mods in your mod manager/game. As a last resort update your VC redistributables (from official MS site, the latest ones for 2019/2022 and so on, I think you can get them all from the same file). VC redis are required by the game (and installed by Steam when you install the game) but also some other mods may require more recent versions or from additional years than the ones installed by Steam.

My SKSE is the 2.2.6 and the Sexlab Framework is sexlabframeworkAE_v166b. I followed installing SKSE As vortex says, to unzip the files and move them into the "drop Files" area in the managers. Says it is installed properly. I have no other mods but the ones requires as I am trying to get the framework build with no issues before I run it. I have opened the VC ReDist and clicked repair and it still was giving me the message.Â

As I understand it the ones Steam installs are enough for the game to work, but some mods need newer ones which you must get from MS manually, repairing the ones you already have doesn't get you newer ones. And I'm not even sure if SL is one of the mods requiring newer VC redis to be honest, but there's not many more reasons for your issue. Also I didn't notice before but your error only mentions the sexlabutils.dll and not both SL and PapyrusUtil.dll which is the common error. Both files are packed in the same download and they're both made for one specific version of the game, so loading one just fine and not the other is truly bizarre.

Yea welcome my life whenever i've tried to hard people tried to mod things for me. I always get the bizarre results. I have the 2015-2022 VC Redis, is there a higher one I need?Â

So if there's no other versions of the framework or other mods it should work. And I assume you started from a clean game install and that there's no other mods overwriting SL framework, right? that DLL specifically which is so weird. Also what happens if you do launch the game? Can you get to the main menu, start a new save and check the MCM? what happens if you close the game and launch it again, is the same error there? I've had some false-positive messages about incompatible DLL files before launching the game, but closing and reopening MO2 is enough to solve it. Not sure what's the deal with Vortex. Can't you purge mod files and deploy them again? that's something I'd try to see if there was something wrong with the way mods were deployed previously.
Phoenixking32 Posted April 8, 2025 Author Posted April 8, 2025 So when I didn't have sexlab active, no errors came up & it loaded the game seemingly without issue but I might have made a massive mistake. I decided to just take a break from trying to mod, refresh everything, look up a better guide, and start fresh. I uninstalled all the mods except vortex, uninstalled skyrim, and reinstalled it off steam and loaded it again without any mods to just rest my brain and relax. When I loaded up, I went to do the Bleakfalls barrows quest & all the Drauger were broken, just standing in the idle A pose they have. I cleared te dungeon and just figured I'd deal with it later but when I went to the first dragon fight at the watch tower, the game broke as the dragon refuses to show up. and when I put all the mods back on vortex, it didn't fix it so I think my skyrim is just broken now.
Just Don't Posted April 8, 2025 Posted April 8, 2025 All of that sounds like you had old modded files all along. According to Vortex there shouldn't be leftover files if you install and uninstall mods via Vortex. Not sure if it's true, but at the very least you could try the purge function after removing mods or the classic go into the actual folder of your mods/game install and check if there are no modded files in there.
