timmy90909090 Posted March 9, 2025 Posted March 9, 2025 (edited) I've asked other places and have only seen this mention a few times on nexus and reddit and no real answers but the just of it is body overlays clip though armor clothing etc. the further I zoom the camera out. anything that lets you see a body overlay for that matter. Here be an example. (made the overlay red to see it easier) Zoomed in Spoiler Zoomed out Spoiler And before anyone says it's the armor or body etc. I disabled every single mod but race menu and its requirements plus an overlay mod and this still happened on a vanilla body with a vanilla outfit that shows skin such as the fur armor or even the underwear for that matter. I also play on the latest version of Skyrim (1.6.1170) I mention this because I don't recall this happening when I played on the downgraded version (1.5.97) but that was a few years ago I don't really remember. Anyways thanks if anyone answers this query of mine, but with all the looking I've done there hasn't been an answer yet. Edited March 9, 2025 by timmy90909090 grammar

It would be better to show it on the naked body without alterations . Having made it red , can only be misleading If I were to go by what I see, you are using a wrong race . If you are using a Custom preset for racemenu, which one is it?

There's 2 different colors for a racemenu overlay, one of them would look like this if it were set to glow.

The overlay above is the corrupted body paint from one of the community overlay mods, but it doesn't matter because it's not just that overlay it's all overlays from any mod, which makes me wonder if it's some sort of engine level bug or perhaps race menu itself I Dunno. Another example here for you is Tribal Body Tattoos by Deep Red hosted here on loverslab with the plain Nord race with plain fur armor in plain white (notice the clipping/bleeding through on the right leg) I posted another example below this post. timmy90909090 Posted March 9, 2025 Author Posted March 9, 2025 (edited) Here another example to everyone, using the newest overlay I could find on the nexus "GW2 Eir Racemenu Overlays by RandallSteele" to show this happens to me with any overlays. Granted I don't really know what alpha flags or thresholds are. I asked another person about overlay clipping once and was the only other answer I ever got but they said it could be "depth buffer precision used for transparency sorting" which again I have no idea what that is, so I just dropped that conversation. I'm not that tech savvy. Again, I'm not really expecting a solution this whole thing is just a small cosmetic issue not an overly big deal, and I don't like to bother people with questions and waste people time so don't feel inclined to help more then you have already. Jetsky Posted March 11, 2025 Posted March 11, 2025 Hey, this is happening to me aswell, were you able to find a fix? Do you remember if this issue has always happened or if it was after an update from some mod?

Only thing I for sure remember is this issue didn't happen on Skyrim LE and maybe the downgrade 1.5.97 version of SSE I played on for a moment, but I won't be downgrading again to just test an overlay problem. Yeah, I remember it didn't happen in some versions back then, but I can't remember which, although it was special edition, maybe it was before the release of anniversary edition. Is not the greatest thing to happen ever, but it's really annoying when I want to wear tattos and this happens

The issue for me with this is that I can't really think of anything else to test or change, meaning I'd have to see this issue for myself to fix it. If one of you are up to a RustDesk/TeamViewer session, and don't mind me bringing my tools and/or changing system configuration then lets do it.

Sure, it's fine by me you can text me whenever you have time so we can check whats happening
traison Posted March 15, 2025 Posted March 15, 2025 Right, I stand corrected. Apparently this is a rare and difficult problem. Jetsky allowed me to borrow their computer for 2 hours and I couldn't get it fixed. Things that remain to be done/tested: Nuking Skyrim ini files. Creating a new profile in MO2 and isolating the bare-minimums to replicate the test with the tattoos and the gloves/nails. Making sure there's not something silly going on with actor transparency. Testing vanilla glove meshes. (I did not check if the ones I used in the test were altered) Testing different display drivers. (unlikely to fix this) Testing a different RaceMenu version. (just tought of this one, should have been obvious)
Jetsky Posted March 15, 2025 Posted March 15, 2025 Hey so there's an update here, I tried to test with a new game with no mods other than the ones needed installed and it got better, but the issue was still there, what it changed is that it was less noticeable, I had to zoom far out more than before to notice the clipping of the tattoo, so I just guess it's one of the issues that appeared on the latest versions of the mod
traison Posted March 15, 2025 Posted March 15, 2025 There's also this thing from the RaceMenu mod description: Quote KNOWN ISSUES 2.0.0 to current Body/Hand/Feet paint may appear to be rendered overtop of some effects, this is a known issue. The reason this happens is due to the AlphaProperty flags on the overlay template meshes, changing these to the other set of flags results in overlays occasionally partially rendering on the skin. This was found by Jetsky after our remote session. This probably doesn't explain timmy's issues, as these newer version are only for newer Skyrim versions, but this looks like something Skyrim AE players will just have to accept.
timmy90909090 Posted October 2, 2025 Author Posted October 2, 2025 Couldn't hurt to ask to anyone who sees this, but any news/info on this issue perhaps and mod that might fix this. its ok if there are none just asking.
