Doodlecute Posted February 22, 2025 Posted February 22, 2025 Hi all, So my computer recently died and I was forced to replace it. Fortunately no data other than a few saved games was lost, as I had just finished backing everything up on an external drive just before it happened. But as I've been setting up the new computer I ran into a snag I can't figure out with the CSE. I can open the base version of the construction set just fine but when trying to run it through OBSE with the custom shortcut I get the message "Unsupported option -Editor" followed by a second message saying "Couldn't Read Arguments". Here is what I wrote in the target section of the shortcut "C:\GOG Games\Oblivion\obse_loader.exe" -Editor -oldinject This has always worked on my old computer and all I can think of that is different is that the new computer uses Windows 11 instead of 10. I've tried doing my own research to figure this out but have come up with completely fruitless searches. Does anybody know what I need to do to fix this?
fejeena Posted February 22, 2025 Posted February 22, 2025 CSE version ? version 51 and older you start with the OBSE loader exe short cut with added oldinject. The newer CSE versions you start with the Launch CSE.bat
Doodlecute Posted February 23, 2025 Author Posted February 23, 2025 I got it off Nexus which says its version 11. So I guess my version is outdated... where do I find a newer version?
fejeena Posted February 23, 2025 Posted February 23, 2025 Sorry I meant version 5.1 ( that's the version I still use. You start it with obse_loader.exe desktop shortcut ) You have the newest version 11.0 , you start it with Launch CSE.bat . All you need is in the download file, except OBSE. If you have installed a xOBSE version try it with OBSE21 https://obse.silverlock.org/ only a few new Mods need xOBSE, I still use OBSE21 And your game not in C / : program files !!! NEVER . This can cause errors that OBSE does not work and thus also the CSE. Read my yellow Link below.
Doodlecute Posted February 24, 2025 Author Posted February 24, 2025 I always used the shortcut method before, It only just stopped working with the new computer. Also the Launch CSE.bat doesn't work either. When I try to use it I get a different error message saying "The construction set failed to initialize correctly". This is all with the current xOBSE (I was trying to update things as well since I had to reinstall everything anyway). But I've also tried with the older OBSE that I have been using. When I try to use that one I get an error message "Couldn't inject dll".
Doodlecute Posted February 24, 2025 Author Posted February 24, 2025 (edited) Okay I figured it out. Apparently it wasn't running as admin for some reason, but after correcting that & using the silverlock you linked it finally opened. Thanks for the help. But wow this looks different now. fejeena Posted February 24, 2025 Posted February 24, 2025 The look is one of the reasons why I still use version 5.1. And the new versions are less stable for me than the 5.1
Doodlecute Posted February 28, 2025 Author Posted February 28, 2025 Well the new layout is taking some getting use to, but unfortunately I just can't get the older version to run at all on this new computer. I tried everything to get that to run, even just copying and pasting the files from another computer were everything works just fine. But when trying to open it on this computer it starts up, then immediately crashes every time. I haven't had any trouble with stability of the new one yet *knocks on wood*, but since getting it to work so far most of my time has been spent restoring all my old mods into the new folder. Although while doing this I did run into another thing that may be an issue, that I wanted to ask about. When I start the game and open the console command menu an error message pops up & begins repeating itself over & over. The message reads: "Error in script 020090ea: (null) in file: Lovers with PK.esm Unable to find function definition for command 0 in script"." Near as I can tell everything is still working just fine but this error message has me concerned. I did re-download & reinstall the LAPF in case something had been corrupted or in need of updating but the error message remains. Any thoughts?
fejeena Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 Have you put the entire Bethesda Order on the ignore list in your antivirus program? It's happened to me twice. Once I couldn't start the game and another time the CS. Because the antivirus blocked it. Since then, Oblivion is always in the ignore list. The Error in script 020090ea is the OBSE check script. Game not in C / : program files !!!! or OBSE often doesn't work. Tried OBSE21 ? Not the xOBSE versions So LAPF/Lovers is ok, there is a problem with OBSE
Doodlecute Posted March 1, 2025 Author Posted March 1, 2025 Cool switching from xOBSE to OBSE21 fixed the error message issue. I never would have thought of that. Hopefully that's the end of my issues. I've spent the day modding and playing and haven't noticed anything else. It all seems to be running smooth now. Thanks a bunch. Also I didn't know the Antivirus could be an issue, and while it doesn't seem to be the problem currently I'll remember that for the future.
