calranthe Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Need help with a project, a set of three mods for the community, reward or gift will be available at the end and decided by those involved and the work spent. First Mod description to allow any scripters to see what it is about before they volunteer. A quest that brings skyrim to life and I mean that quite literally the world will become aware of your actions and more importantly react to you. This is not a random event creation system. But it is quite simple to script as my description below will hopefully explain. When you activate this quest which will be a simple find object, remove said object which leads on to the following sections Polling of sexlab stats and Polling of skyrim stats, to start with we keep it simple, how many people you have killed, how many times having sex but will need to be written in a way that new lines could be added everything from how many times you stole an item to particular sex activities (keeping it vague because this is general discussion) Time spent in cell By that I mean time spent in an area, be it house, dungeon or wherever you are standing A scale 1-8 hours = stage 0 9-16 hours stage 1 and so on, we will start with three stages but created so we can add more. Results As the world becomes aware the basic premise is that it will become aware of the kind of person your char is, how you have coloured the world itself and longer you stay in an area (not cumalitive do not want to have script to track past time in location unless it is a very easy thing to do) Example a person who steals a lot and stays in a single location may start getting messages in the top left corner feeling as if being watched, from there it progresses a chest may appear with a "gift" inside or angry people may appear, he may loose stolen items. The point is the results section with different stages should once again be modular so we can start with very simple and then add different situations a framework. If you think the above is possible and I see myself no reason why not then please either reply here or in pm. I have been looking into papyrus and various source mods at the moment trying to wrap my head around code fragments. My options are the following. A)Spend the next month or so melting my brain to learn how to script, script some mods and if I don't burn out doing so then I have a mod that probably won't excite me because I have worked on it for a month. Long ago I was playing muds and one day had the crazy idea that "hey I can do better" so long story short creation of a great adult mud (still going now on its 5th revision coming up to 14 years old) problem is I spent so much time coding I completely lost interest in muds as I player, I couldn't log on to my mud or anyone elses without seeing damn code and how I could fit it, basically lost the innocence of a player. I do have a lot of time on my hand being retired but I also would hate to start seeing skyrim as a coder instead of a player. So we come to option 2 B)Coding and scripting takes time, real world time and that is fine if you are coding your own mod or your own project but this isn't that, I am looking for someone who knows sexlab and experience in scripting, the mods I want to create (three of them) will all work together and hook into a lot of the sexlab mods none of these mods are impossible or even that difficult, all is within the realm of what I have already seen. *Important* I will not be paying/rewarding for the making of the mod because that is a grey area, I will by definition be paying/rewarding for time spent scripting/coding/advice which is completely normal. Each of the mods will be fully credited and put up on Lovers Lab for everyone to enjoy. This is just my way of getting around an impass. Reward/payment Well we will work out what would be amiable to the person involved, be it cash via paypal, games via steam or spare parts for your computer if it is aging. I will provide a design document for each of the mods which that person can look at, advise me how crazy I am and we go from there. Post here or PM if interested.
calranthe Posted December 31, 2013 Author Posted December 31, 2013 This is interesting, 43 views and not one person contacts me or asks for further details I am looking for someone who knows sexlab and papyrus to help me create some fun mods for the community and you profit from it as well. On this site we have an amazing set of framework mods with Sex Lab being at the forefront if you use that as a basis coupled with others then we have a framework which should allow for a lot of actual content and by content I means quests and story line. As much as anyone else I love having the basic framework in place having sex and opening the game up to all kinds of weirdness and kinks but maybe I am unique because I crave the context and storyline, I want reasons for these situations, I want something beyond my own role play. It is no secret that my favorite mod on oblivion was cursed armor, the difference here is we have in house tools that we don't need translating. We even have the art assets for everything I want to accomplish it is just the scripting.
calranthe Posted January 3, 2014 Author Posted January 3, 2014 I am actually at a loss that no one has talked to me about this so lets run down some reasons for this. It is a taboo subject ? I can't really see it as such but some may be offended at the idea of money for modding. We have no script people who have free time on skyrim ? Guess that is possible I mean most people who script are doing there own thing also it is the holidays. People don't like me, I some how got on every ones block list ? While I may not be the easiest person in the world to get on with I don't think that is it. Okay let me redefine the proposition. Someone with knowledge and ability helps me get three mods out to the community and I will give them a thank you gift of money, hardware or games. The value of the gift will be above £60 which is $98.2 us dollars That could be two full price games on steam, paypal money or a piece of computer hardware.
Guest Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 I can't really see it as such but some may be offended at the idea of money for modding. This would be my guess for the lack of response thus far. I'd say It's one thing for a modder to have an interest in a personal project that they can spend their free time on without working to any imposed schedule, and maybe being open to receiving voluntary donations, it's a whole other to be obliged to spend time working on something because of a formal monetary arrangement. It's a pretty fundamental shift away from what is after all a classic hobby scene. Here's a wonderful example of how things seem to work round here (if I recall correctly anyway). Someone had an idea for a mod, explored it with the community to gain feedback, developed it, got it coded, and then released it. The coding side of things is the tough part, but if it's an engaging idea and someone (ie you) have gone to some length to develop it some way beyond the "wouldn't it be cool if" stage, I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if one of the many skilled modders in this community offered their time to collaborate. Just my two pennies though, I'm just guessing. edit: and just to put this in a meaningful perspective, there are mods out there that are fully voice acted, that were a year or more in the making and have assets designed from the ground up. And they don't ask for a bean up front from their audience. People often will contribute 'cos they have vested interest in seeing such projects completed. But I doubt anybody makes any profit from it.
calranthe Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 Well then I will just shelve the projects, it is a pitty I believe quite a few people here would have enjoyed it. *note* I tried in two seperate threads before this one to get help learning the parts of scripting I needed to even begin this project myself but no one scripter offered to help. Wasn't like I was asking much just questions on syntax. Let me make it clear I was never paying for someone to mod, I was paying for a scripter to do a job for me or a gift, In the past I paid for mysql and php coder to write a dbase for a hoby website, no difference. So lets see I tried on two seperate occasions to get help started the first part of this project and then even offered to give a gift or pay for time scripting and still no one wanted to help. Sad state of affairs I will delete my original ideas post.
Pwishy Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 My guess is because scripting is tedious, difficult work that most won't do unless they have genuine interest in the project or their time and effort will be rewarded appropriately. As for the latter, I'm guessing the way you describe payment "steam games, spare parts" gives off more of a 'tiny fee' vibe rather than 'significant income/payment'. Just my guess, I'm no scripter. Don't give up, though!

Don't give up, though! I know how tedious scripting can be and while I wouldn't discuss exact payment unless you class $100-500 as tiny no it wouldn't have been, hell to get these three projects to fruition my budget would have probably hit $1000 over the next few months IF the right person who could do the job was interested. As for pc parts, I just revamped all 6 house computers which I do every 12-18 months this left me with GTX660ti's spare and other parts not exactly tiny either. Having coded a mud both in c++ then java/mysql hybrid I just how tedious coding/scripting can be and would have recompensed accordingly I just didn't want to put down amounts and have the less "charitable" people jump on it purely because of what I was offering. This may seem crazy but to me it would have been me giving back to the community after all they have done for me. I need to rethink the whole project and decide what to do, offer is closed
h38fh2mf Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 How convenient that you say reward is 100$ and then in the end say it's 1000$ and close offer at the same time
calranthe Posted January 10, 2014 Author Posted January 10, 2014 How convenient that you say reward is 100$ and then in the end say it's 1000$ and close offer at the same time Not really, I would not mention specifics until someone showed interest and then that would have been in private messages, no offence to any people of this community but mentioning those kinds of sums of money is a bad idea at the start tends to attract the wrong kind of person. Last year I needed a very specific java/mysql hybrid setup created the person who volunteered just asked me to get him the saints row IV pre-order on steam, what I needed did not turn out to be a quick thing so over three weeks many presents were sent lol. Valid points though and I really do want to get this going so I will re-word the first post.
