Size of save files

How large do people's save files tend to get? In my current Bridgeport game, my latest save file (including university world data) is about 90 MB. I've noticed that when the saves start getting to around 80 MB it starts to take a long time to load the saves. I do a full town reset once per season/every 4 sim weeks with MasterController, I go around clearing the household inventories of every family on the map, I clean the saves after every session with Regul Save Cleaner, yet the save file continues to grow and grow. I get that as the population increases then the file size will as well, but the population hasn't really increased much since the start of the game. Is this just to be expected? Or is it KinkyWorld/something else adding a lot of additional data to the save?

This is a problem with saves on The Sims 3 in general, if you use "save" instead of "save as". This link has a good explanation: https://steamcommunity.com/app/47890/discussions/0/3154186375127681938/

Basically, you should always "Save As" and then just delete older saves. This will prevent the save from gradually becoming slower and less playable (eventually it will be completely unplayable).

Yeah I should have mentioned that I always do Save As

I had forgotten that I had the Disable Dereferencing tuning package for ErrorTrap since that was recommended long ago in the OP for the original versions of KinkyWorld. I took a chance and decided to remove that to see if it would help, and it cut my save file down to ~83 MB. Not sure if it's still problematic to continue running KW+ErrorTrap without that tuning file, but it helped a bit in reducing the size of the save file.

Edit: My save had also been taking like 40+ minutes to load lately. Since letting ErrorTrap do it's dereferencing my load time is down to a few minutes

I made mention of save file size and how it affected me in another post - Vehicle Traffic - if you want to take a look. While I give no easy solution, I did point out how a save becomes bloated and even 'drastic' measures didn't seem to solve the root of the issue. So making a NEW save file series (requires new start) made a huge impact.

I start new games fairly regularly, albeit from a progenitor save where I've made a lot of changes to the world. It was a recurring problem though where the save would start off quick to load, and over time the save loading would get slower and slower until eventually it's taking like 40 minutes to an hour each time, which is where my current save was at. Since removing that ErrorTrap tuning package though my loading time is back down to 2-3 minutes, which is perfectly acceptable to me. I have noticed that ErrorTrap's correction logs do complain about something in KW related to underwear that it's unable to handle/cleanup, but in-game I haven't noticed any obvious issues resulting from that, so for the time being removing that tuning package seems like the way to go to keep the save clean and loading quick.

I have no answers, but my current save file is running around 85MB, and it took close to 15 minutes to load the last time I actually paid attention to how long it took. I normally just start loading and then switch to another desktop and browse the web, periodically checking back to see if it is done yet. :(

That's what I used to do, but when the loading starts taking almost an hour I'd really have to plan ahead for when I wanted to play the game, and an error code 12 or a crash could very easily end the Sims 3 gaming for the day. Removing the tuning file has helped tremendously, although apparently you still shouldn't keep it removed. I'll probably include the temporary removal of the file as part of my town reset/cleanup that I do every 4 sim weeks.
