nehaberlan Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Hi, I have an NPC that has "HumanFemaleSkinWhite04" preset for face and body. I wanted to change it to default setting "HumanFemaleSkinWhite01" in the Character Gen Parts Tab. I saved it. Then, when I start the Creation Kit again, the color of face/body of my NPC was the previous one, HumanFemaleSkinWhite04. Why it's happening? Do you have any suggestion? Using Ctrl+F4 for this NPC can fix this problem? If you can help me anyway, I'll appreciate.

I would at this point just assume this is a bug in the CK and ignore it. Do the task in xEdit instead. I realize this may not be the answer you were looking for if your intent was to actually figure this out. However you may find that you'd go insane before you had all the issues in the CK figured out. Sometimes its better to just go with the workarounds. Edit: On 11/11/2024 at 4:00 AM, nehaberlan said: Using Ctrl+F4 for this NPC can fix this problem? It seems highly unlikely to me that the skin color would be somehow baked into the facegen mesh. So if we assume Ctrl+F4 *only* rebuilds the mesh then no, that won't fix your issue. Edit: Forgot about tintmasks. See my post below. Edited November 13, 2024 by traison 1

traison Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 Forgot about the tintmasks, not that it's relevant in this issue, but perhaps worth mentioning for future Googling people: Ctrl+F4 also builds the the tintmask. That is to say, warpaints, makeup and other such things. But this does not include the skin color, or the skin texture. 1
Tlam99 Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 You need to go out of the menu where you made changes and the go back again. This is valid for lots of things. New values only taken on close and open the specific menu.

Saving it, exiting from the Creation Kit, then starting the Creation Kit again doesn't work too. For that reason, I want to ask to the Technical Support. 2 hours ago, traison said: Forgot about the tintmasks, not that it's relevant in this issue, but perhaps worth mentioning for future Googling people: Ctrl+F4 also builds the the tintmask. I don't know how to make the changing in XEdit as you mentioned before. For now, I would prefer to create a new NPC from scratch that has default body color. It's a longer way, but it'll work at least. I didn't know that Ctrl+F4 doesn't include the skin color or skin texture. Oh... It's really, really confusing. All of them are confusing for me. For that reason, I'm still rookie after eight years.

Tint Layers, TINI field. Tint index 24 looks relevant. I would use a vanilla npc with the skin tone I want, and copy the values over from there. 1

Either C drive system directory or something similar. If you start via organiser, start it as admin, or extern, start ck as admin. Edited November 13, 2024 by Tlam99 1

Thank you for your advice.
