jjjjjjjjjjjjjoooooooooooo Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 (edited) So......the laptop I'm currently using to play Sims 3 is dead. (First I thought only the battery is dead, but then they told me that the motherboard might also be potentially spoiled) Since I'm not willing to waste money on replacing the motherboard I'm thinking to get a new computer instead. But the problem is that my current save was loaded with Kinky World that I heard that it might cause save files corruption if you try to remove it after playing with it for some time. So is there a way to prevent, or would there be any problems when I move my game to the new computer with all the mods? Or I just simply download the game then move the entire Sims 3 folder to the new computer? Edited November 4, 2024 by jjjjjjjjjjjjjoooooooooooo

Just install the game on the new computer and move the \Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 folder from your documents to the same folder on the new computer from the old disk. No further action is required. 1

I believe the main issue with settings is related to your graphics adapter, and its possible resolution settings. If you launch the game, and the "lastdevice" line does not match your current graphics adapter AND the version of device driver for it, then the Options.ini file will be erased and recreated with all default values. In short, it won't hurt anything if you copy the old one, you will just have to go through the options in game and reset everything to the way you want it. 1
