icladel Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Hi, My games have had a long history of CTD upon loading. Here's what happens: - Start Skyrim - Load a Save game - After loading, I will hear the "shhhhh" sound that you get when drawing an enchanted weapon. - The game will crash. How I have gotten around it: - I load any random save game - I keep trying until one loads (one will always eventually load) - In the game, I reload another game, the one I actually Want (the one which may have crashed previously) - The game loads, all is good and runs smooth. I've lived with this for a while but its just getting annoying now. This is the final line in all the crashed papyrus logs: [12/14/2013 - 11:49:57PM] Error: File "KnapsackEnhanced.esp" does not exist or is not currently loaded. stack: <unknown self>.Game.GetFormFromFile() - "<native>" Line ? [alias _DE_CompatibilityPlayer on quest _DE_Compatibility (1A0286F3)]._de_compatibility.RunStartupCheck() - "_DE_Compatibility.psc" Line 748 [alias _DE_CompatibilityPlayer on quest _DE_Compatibility (1A0286F3)]._de_compatibility.OnPlayerLoadGame() - "_DE_Compatibility.psc" Line 323 ~EDIT: I dont think the "KnapSack.esp" missing is the cause of crashing. There's a whole lot of other Item related esp's before the final line. Also, once one game loads, the previous crashed game will load right up.~ From looking at some other forums, this _DE_Compatibility.psc appears to be from frostfall. Can anyone please teach me how to fix this. I can still play the game with it, but its just getting stupid now. Appreciate any replies. Cheers!
bob11 Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 What kind of system are we talking about? Also, do you, by any chance, have Pinup Poser installed?
pinky6225 Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I had a similar issue where i could load into an older save game but a recent save game would cause a CTD on the first attempt, 2nd attempt would usually load and definately on 3rd. I saw on the FNIS page there is a 4.1 which is meant to help with those problems so I downloaded it and have been trying it and it has greatly reduced the amount of loading CTD for me, i still get the occasional one now rather than it being almost every 1st load attempt so you might want to give it a look at http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/11811/?
icladel Posted December 14, 2013 Author Posted December 14, 2013 Cheers for quick replies. My system is medium end but I can run the game with mods and enb at a decent framerate with buffer for those big battles. (The CTD is definitely not a RAM issue) Yes I have pinup poser installed. Is this known to conflict with Frostfall? As for FNIS, I have v4.0.2. I may give 4.1 a try after I uninstall pinups

Fore made 4.1 specifically for the CTD on load and Pinup was mentioned someplace as being unorthodox in how it has a number of sub-branches. My system becomes unstable like that with Pinup on, but I need it for some screenshots. Hopefully someone will fix Pinup to be less of a Frankenstein. FNIS 4.1 does help the situation but that depends on the place you saved and overall game load. You might see no difference in some scenarios. It could fix it somewhat, but you'd still have saves that refuse to load normally. Also, for the record, fastest thing you can do with these is open the console once you see the Main Menu, type coc qasmoke and wait. It's going to load in the test area, which is as fast as a save load could get. Wait for a few seconds for some scripts to initialize then load the save in question. I still do that, even with FNIS 4.1. Sure it helps in some places, but a 20% improvement in some areas means that that it'll take a while CTDing and reloading for the save to work so unless I'm in some limited indoors place, I still use qasmoke to load saves afterwards.
icladel Posted December 15, 2013 Author Posted December 15, 2013 OK I updated FNIS from 402 to 41. Much better. I still crash every now and then but it is noticeably less. I can deal with this Cheers for the help
Wolfoftheshadows Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 I only ever got a CTD when I would save a game.
