What's a piece of advice you have for new skyrim players?

Mine is quick save it til you make it. Eventually you'll be able to win the scenario (unless its that one mage that has ice storm when you're at level 6)

I would suggest that they take the time to STUDY until they understand whatever mod manager that they choose to use. The use of a mod manager has become essential to playing modded Skyrim (and what other type of Skyrim would we be discussing on LL)?  Now that I've opened that can of worms there will likely follow much rhetoric about why Vortex, or why MO2, or why NMM or some other mod manager is superior. That has all been discussed elsewhere and is not relevant to the question posed by the OP. MY ADVICE is, whichever you choose, get very familiar with it.

My advice, after selecting your mod manager, is to stay away from mod packs/lists.  Peruse the mods on Nexus and build your own game and install them one or two at a time with ample playtime in between.  Remember that mod authors are mostly amateurs making mods for fun in their free time.  They are not made by dev studios, they are not thoroughly tested and they are not always supported.  Keep the game fun by not destroying it installing dozens of mods at a time.  You will come away with a game that you curated through careful selection of mods and you'll have some knowledge of how to make it better (and hopefully how to avoid making it worse).
