Frustrations with parallax files.

I recently came back to modding, and have been having a fun time for the most part. However, parallax files are at a 90% miss for me, as I cannot seem to get most of them to work. 

 

I've been using ParallaxGen to get things working, downloading main mod files as well as their parallax files to go with them. I will download the main file, the parallax files, enable them both, and then run ParallaxGen. 

 

This has worked for... just the roads that I wanted. All other files will not work. Walls, ruins, all other terrain, etc. The only thing that has worked is the roads. 

 

I will put my LO in a spoiler here, but it is over 600 items long at the moment, so I do not know if anyone really wants to bother looking through all that right now. My assumption is that I am making a mistake outside of the load order, but I am unsure what. I've enabled the parallax stuff in the .ini for my ENB stuff. I've tried using mods to patch parallax in as well, including the Parallax Occlusion Mapping file. My assumption is that the last one was not needed since ENB has the ability to enable it now, but I figured I'd give it a shot (to no success, obviously). 

 

So I'm kinda at a loss as to what to do now. None of my parallax files have worked since the roads worked once. None of the patches, or other mods that enable parallax work either. 😓

 

Edit to add some potentially crucial information: If I move the output file of ParallaxGen to the bottom of the load order, even the roads stop working.

Try using either just the Parallax Gen thing or just the parallax files for the texture mods.

ENB author states that parallax depends on mod authors (many of whom abandoned Skyrim modding years ago).

 

Expectations must be tempered by these facts.  Results will vary.  Perhaps it would be wise to ponder this fact the next time you consider purchasing a Bethesda title.
