reinstalling for a vanilla skyrim

hi, i have just wasted an entire day just waiting for skyrim to reinstall multiple times for different reasons. the past two times it's been because after using my backup (steam managed) for a second time after trying to install an ENB preset, it included all the previous ENB files i had just attempted to get rid of by using that backup. the second time I deleted all local content through steam an then redownloaded the whole thing. all the ENB files are still there. not only that, but now the skyrim launcher is refusing to detect my nividia gt650m and instead insists on only detecting my Intel HD4000.

i have just wasted over ten hours on multiple reinstallations, including two system restores because my nvidia card decided to not support Aero desktop theme.

i am about to explode. Please help me.

how is it possible that steam magically has all my modified files and decided to download them all instead of giving me a fresh skyrim copy so i can save it to a custom folder and not have to waste another 5 hours downloading a reinstall.?

EDIT: right before i attempted to reinstall skyrim through steam i tried removing all ENB-related files beforehand, and running skyrim one more time to see what would happen. GPU still not detected and ENB was still running.

so i went to steam, and deleted local content. went back to the skyrim file, opened it, and found all the ENB files in there, this time with none of the accompanying vanilla skyrim files. WTF is this? I just deleted the Skyrim folder itself in commonapps, and am reinstalling right now.

will the ENB files magically appear again?

When you uninstall Skyrim it does not remove anything but the vanilla files. If you ever install an ENB and want to get rid of it delete everything that has enb at the beginning of the name and check the zip files for the names and locations any other files included with it.

Yeah, so torching the game itself through steam doesn't really get rid of everything; it gets rid of skyrim.exe or whatever the actual game is. Uninstall then navigate to

c:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/

and delete the skyrim folder.

ok, so according to the installation guide linked in the page linked by Lother, it is recommended that I move Skyrim to a custom location. However, I cannot now Launch NexusManager due to it being unable to detect the Skyrim folder I deleted. Will I be able to manually direct NMM to my new custom skyrim directory once i have it moved? I assume that, without launching skyrim itself (once it's downloaded), if i launch nexus manager it will at least re-detect the new skyrim folder in the steam files, allowing me to access the manager.

the guide is useful in order to restore skyrim folder deleting everything that is not originally present, you dont need to move the folder in order to do that, if you later have problems detecting your videodrivers it may be something related to the windows registry, im not really sure, of course you can tell nmm where to look, but if I dont think your issue has to do with skyrim being it its default directory maybe you want to have it there for now

yes, I am currently keeping in the default directory. Right now I am trying to make sure the problem i am having is related solely to my card and enb installation. I have the link bookmarked and will refer back to it if i need to. thanks for linking it.
