magnusx Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Maybe is in the wrong post so, feel free to move as u want. This idea has come to me because i think there are many dialogues in the mods that are speachless (because audio doesnt exists) so, i have thinking to collect the voices of the original actors of skyrim from other movies, sketches, interviews, so we can have complette audio and experience, can be adult or non adult mods, so, hope u give me ur feed backs about it, now im working on additional player voice audios but if modders tellme wa to look i think i can adquire it for u and u just need to interate it to the mod.

You mean like audio splicing (IE Youtube Poop) or actually finding the voice actors and getting them to do real voices? The former (which is what I assume you're talking about) could work, indeed many mods do use this method. But it sounds so weird and requires so much work that most of the time it just isn't worth it (especially if you're not submitting it to a place like nexus where everyone is like "LOL DIS MOD NEEDS VUCE ACTING LOL NO VOICE ACTUNG NO ENDORSE"). Plus you can only go so far with it. If the latter... well... I hope you have really deep pockets.
magnusx Posted December 3, 2013 Author Posted December 3, 2013 Yea, the first one, i don't care for endorses XD i was making this for my personal use but i guess it can help modders to improve the experience, there is YouTube, interviews, some movies, etc that can be used it takes time yea but guess can be useful
shane4244 Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Yea, the first one, i don't care for endorses XD i was making this for my personal use but i guess it can help modders to improve the experience, there is YouTube, interviews, some movies, etc that can be used it takes time yea but guess can be useful You have to be careful with movies, interviews they can be used in clips on you tube because of the fair usage act or something I forget the name but audio/video clips can used for review and parody purposes but when take voice clips to use in just a regular mod that could cause issues if the voice is recognizable. Should not be any problems using mixes of skyrim vanilla voices for skyrim which would be the best way to go. Sounds like a very time consuming project but real voices instead of those damn subtitlies would be nice. The thing to do if your making it as a modders resource would be to get samples of common words and phrases from each vanilla voice type put them in an easy to identify folder structure then they could be put together by the mod authors for there mods. Again it sounds like a time consuming pain in the ass but I'm sure everyone would like to see something like this.
panthercom Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 You could run into problems mixing and matching vanilla voice samples on a individual word basis, due to context-dependent changes in pitch and inflection. Taking a word from the end of a sentence and placing it in the middle of a sentence could sound very odd if it didn't match the cadence of the dialog. As for pulling voice samples from sources other than Skyrim, you have the issues of background noise, different equalization, reverberation, compression/dynamic range and legal issues to deal with. It would be simpler to just re-record the voice parts from scratch with a different actor and have them record the new voice parts at the same time.

panthercom Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 That's right, it's not practical as a modder's resource. The only practical thing to do if you want a quality finished product is to record your own unique voice tracks from scratch. I'm all for salvage; sometimes it's just faster and cheaper to leave it in the garbage can and buy a new one. I'm aware of that but the only pratical use was for vanilla voices it's not that difficult to get voice actors or just do it yourself for custom NPC's it's making the dialog work with added lines to vanilla NPC's. I was merely saying if the poster wanted to make a modders resource this is the type that would be needed. Didn't say it would sound fantastic or would be pratical, or easy or you could just piece it together and it would sound fine. I was just stating what was needed if this is what he wanted to do.
magnusx Posted December 8, 2013 Author Posted December 8, 2013 Well, i have been looking for participations of the vanilla actors, i was thinking on search for the missing sounds of some of my favorite mods to patch it with a phrase of their work, as it is said, guess it will be better to keep it as a personal treasure because the problems that can carry to use their work from other stuff they made, well, people is aware they will be the original actor voices, well, may be they will not be, lets say that the voices i will collect will be so similar to theirs XD thnx for the feedbacks buds
