Nesmero Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 Mods like Bimbos of Skyrim, Yzra’s necklace, and various others prove me something: there’s a lot of mind control/hypnosis freaks in the Skyrim modding community! And I love that, they are my people, which also makes me wonder why there’s not been anyone who has tapped into such an awesome mind control extravaganza that is the whole Solstheim expansion? Mainly the influence in its unaware habitants is something that I find very hot…and full of potential. I imagine it like this: If you are a Dom and you want to mind control people, keep them under your control maybe when you talk with Hermaeus Mora that second time, to learn the second word of power to Bend Will, you could have an alternate kind of deal, after all, the whole plot seems to imply that you are also some power-hungry bastard. Mora wants Mirrak dead, and we also want him dead, but the whole… “keeping the population of the island as slaves” there’s no need to exactly free them, you could simply…depose him and take over, keeping the influence over the people, making them into complete slaves to worship you and for you to use them as you see fit, remove their clothes, and have some fun with the ones you like, either the dunmer in the south, or the Skaal on the north. But maybe you want to play as a Sub, in such a case the structure would remain more or less the same, except you are becoming Hermaeus mora’s puppet, mindless and obedient, despite him not having the power to use the Thu’um he could use his own dark knowledge to drag you into submission, breaking your will and from there… the route would continue just the same, Miraak is defeated, and the island’s enslavement continues, but now you are just the high priest/priestess of Hermaeous mora…a slave to the will of the daedra, and making sure that everyone follows his will. I don’t have the talent to pull something like this, and I’m not gonna pretend it would be “easy” or anything like that, I’ve just see so many talented people create such impressive works related to mind control that I somewhat hope that someone out there could be inspired to do something like this. Thank you for taking your time to read my ramblings lol 1
jib_buttkiss Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 It's a fun idea, but there's two pretty colossal issues: 1- Skyrim hates hates hates it when you mess with major story quests. DLC2 is no Civil War questline, but I'd bet it's still pretty volatile. I'd imagine most modders would rather take inspiration from it and make their own quest, rather than try to edit the existing one without destroying it completely. 2- Compatibility issues. This one's probably not as bad, but if you were to fiddle with things on a scale that large, there'd be all kinds of other Solstheim-based things that could break, both vanilla and from other mods. I suspect that someone making a mod like this would spend more time putting out the fires caused by the mod than actually working on it. Neither of these issues are insurmountable, as such, but they're definitely pretty tough to swallow when taking on a project of that scale. To be clear, I'm not trying to shut you down or anything! Just provide a point of view as to why no one has gone for this concept that (as you correctly say!) seems like an obvious win.

And yeah, what you say is perfectly fair, as I said, Im just sharing ideas out there, I cant even begin to imagine the whole web of problems that if would imply to pull something like this. I just love Solstheim and its peculiar plot, I mean, a whole island working like zombies by night and you get to see it and even experience it, and everyone seems prety unaware of it, it just oozes with Mind Control potential, I honestly would not even be surprised if the people who designed that expansion also had the same kind of kinks If anithing else, at least there should be more smut of it I mean come on!
Canaduh Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 I think a much easier to implement idea might be a spell tome dropped from a black book, or Miraak or something along those lines, perhaps with some elevenlabs tinkering you could even V/O Mora with a contract, since it is canon that the dragonborn becomes the new plaything. The reasoning is that once both of those character stories end on Solstheim, there is no further threads to conflict. In essence, Solstheim becomes a sandbox once the main story ends, most of the leftover quests take place inside cells, etc.

About 10 years ago I really tried to do something with the Dragonborn DLC to make a mind control quest mod. I worked on it on and off for three years, but every step forward felt like three steps back. Trust me, you would be better of just blocking out the main quest of Dragonborn and building something up from scratch in it's place.
