Rare bug: First line of NPC dialogue doesn't display in subtitles (skips to 2nd line)

This bug has frustrated me to no end.

It started after I installed a mod from LL, but since I didn't notice this right away, I forgot which mod it was (I have hundreds at this point).

The issue:

The 1st line of an NPCs dialogue is always missing in the subtitles.

By missing I don't mean that nothing is displayed. Rather, the 2nd line of dialogue is displayed in the subtitles as the NPC is speaking their 1st line.

Then as the NPC's dialogue advances passed the 1st line, the subtitles would sync and display correctly again.

So as they're speaking the 2nd line of their dialogue, the 2nd line in the subtitles would continue being displayed (as this is now correct), and would then continue to change and match the spoken dialogue as it progresses passed the 2nd line onward.

Any clues as to which mod might be causing this, or how to fix this issue regardless of the offending mod?

Then how do you know it has anything to do with an LL mod?

The actual dialogue should give you a clue as to which mod is involved.

Because I remember it started happening right after I installed a certain mod from LL.

It just didn't bother me as much at the time, so I kept the mod. But over time I forgot which mod it was.

As for the dialogue giving me a clue as to which mod is involved, this issue affects all dialogue in the game. Even vanilla.

Can you post your Load Order? Also what have you tried to fix this issue? Have you run LOOT?

The only suggestion I found regarding issues with subtitles was to turn them off and then back on again. But that didn't help.

I also tried using the mod Subtitles from the Nexus, which is supposed to show up to 4 lines of subtitles at the same time on the screen, but it didn't work against this bug.

I use Vortex mod manager, so it has LOOT built in and runs it automatically. But I also ran it manually.

I'll post my load order as soon as I figure out how to do it 😅
