Need help disabling bethesdas built in mod manager

I've got everything set up well in mo2 all my mods are enabled in all the tools (loot, sse edit, etc) but when i load into game those mods arent active. After googling for a bit I found someone suggesting to look at the mod page in skyrim se. I did and all the mods that I was having the issue with were disabled in this page. I tried to enable them but that crashes skyrim once I attempt to start a new game or load a save. Train wrecker says spid is doing it because sky ui and ui extension were not active. Every time I use the in skyrim mod page to activate the mods its deactivated it stealth deactivates my ui mods. I can see in my plug ins on mo2 they are off. If i turn them back on the skyrim built in mod page deactivates all the same mods all over again.

tldr: Bethesda in game mod page is overwriting my mo2 and then crashes if I try to fix it because its trash. How do I make this thing not override my mo2 or disable it entirely?

Which version of the game do you have? Are all your mods up to date?

All mods being disabled was a problem with Engine Fixes + 1.6.1130/1170 versions of the game due to changes in those game versions. Engine fixes has been updated to fix this already.

You don't need to disable the in game mods menu. Don't interact with it and it'll be fine. But if you want to remove some of the CC menus you can add this to your skyrim.ini. This won't make all your mods work (because like I said I think your issue is being in an older version of engine fixes or some other mod), it will only remove the creation club and mods in some menus.

I back ported to 1.5.97 I will go try that ini shit next time I'm at my computer.

All mods up to date. I deleted everything then re-downloaded recently (sub 1 week ago) so everything I have is newest version that is se compat not ae

1.5.97 shouldn't have the issue I'm mentioning. And like I said that ini setting is likely not related to your issue, it's just a way to disable the CC in some menus.

Try restarting your computer and then run the game as usual. Make sure SKSE is selected in the executables before you press Run. Also just to check the usual stuff, confirm you're not above the 255 plugin limit. In MO2 it's the number right below the Run button, put your mouse over it and check what's the total count for ESM + ESP files.

esm + esp = 186 so good there.

its def skse I set it up to be skse and just double checked so no problems there

To give some more info all kinds of mods disabled

a few random outfit mods I didn't notice, sl solutions, immersive patrols, my serana replacer and sluts. So no patern that I could notice.

I did confirm the mods missing are the ones inactive when I open the bethesda mod page in skyrim and all those mods are active in loot and the mo2 plug in section

So it's not the plugin limit and it's not engine fixes + 1130/1170.

Stop. Using. That. Menu.

Every time you interact with it it changes your plugins.txt which should only be managed by your mod manager. If you're using Vortex try re-deploying your mods or whatever Vortex does. If you're using MO2, idk, this shouldn't happen since MO2 uses its own plugins.txt inside the mo2/profiles folder. That's like the last idea I have about how to solve this. On top of not using that menu ever again.

Ya I only ever clicked that menu like once or twice, I know I'm not supposed to use it. I just noticed the mods it has disabled are the ones that weren't showing up before I even considered clicking the menu the first time. I am using mo2 and I tried making the plugins.txt read only but nope that still didn't fix the issue

I have discovered the issue. Noticed your flair had a guide to mo2 so I figured id run through it real quick double check. the first step of download this if your on a version earlier than this.

My dumb ass forgot to get the esl back port mod and those mods were ones that needed it. So ty! your guide has saved me lol

edit: I probably should have included a mod list, you probably would have caught the issue really quick if i had
