Looks like the change I included for the SlaveTats method after changing the way the alpha is handled (float to integer).
So SlaveTats method is NOT WORKING in v.2.1.

Since I think its the least used version I probably won't add a hotfix unless someone specifically asks for it. The fix will still be included in the next version.

Additional Note:
Apparently I forgot to remove a leftover from testing stuff, so the Color Picker currently doesn't use the selected value for its starting point...
I might add a new version for those two things tomorrow hoping that I didn't miss more stuff.

I'm currently working on this (code will be a mess, but as long as it'll work I'm honestly fine with it xd)
Here's a preview of the possible settings.
Type (as it currently stands) will have 3 options:

  1. Corruption - uses BoS Stages starting with the stage set in the Player / NPC settings for it (the one in progression is only informal and displays that value)
  2. Time-Based - After you activate the skin on the menu / hotkey it will advance to the next step after x hours (1-144)
  3. Sleep-Based - After you activate it it will advance after the nth time you sleep

1. is mostly done for all 3 player application modes, I'll probably add the other two progression modes first before I'll add the NPC variant of each, I only prepared the MCM for NPC yet, but I hope "porting" it to NPCs shouldn't be a big issue the way I wrote it (granted theres still lots of room for improvement...)

(Gyaru Makeup Settings is a complete placeholder for now and probably won't be added that soon)

unfortunately, skin color turned on causes CTD's when trying to open racemenu at all in the new version, which is  shame because otherwise it works perfectly, just always CTD when i try to edit myself. idk if there is a work around for now or not, but it always happens as soon as i type "showracemenu" and press enter, even when disabled it still happens, only way to fix it is too reload the game.

 

skin tint just doesn't work well, it just automatically sets it to the darkest color even with progression on, where i dont have that issue with skin color or slavetats, and lastly toggle player skin does nothing if i try to disable it if using skin tint.

Do you have alpha values saved in the slot, specifically the player slot? Skin tint change is based on the alpha but also only uses the saved value currently I think.

 

I'm not sure if I can find an actual fix for the showracemenu ctd, because in the end it only uses the po3 function. Perhaps there is another function I have to call to revert the changes done by it (other than using it again to change the color back to the initial one)

 

Also what are the other progression settings? Steps specifically.

Well it does not necessarily work based on the corruption in BoS, that's just an option (and was the original main purpose.

If you use a Tonic it will revert the skin color too, as this was requested before and BoS does send an event when a tonic is used (see here). Actually I think I might have to actually tweak this to ignore the progression settings, which I did not think of before.

ohh, okay thanks, i asked because i searched for the tonic term earlier but it showed no results. but anyway, if the tonic will also revert the skin i'm more than sastisfied, also thanks for the great mod.

I can't seem to get the MCM to appear even with up to date requirements on a new save. Has anyone else run into this?

I had the case that I had to save and reload the save with the mod active (didn't matter if I restarted or loaded from in the game) before for it to show up. That's however the only issue I had in 2 different testing setups.

 

Are other MCM Helper mcms loading properly?

I unfortunately forgot which mods I have that specifically need it but I know that some of them do and I'm not missing anything else. I've also tried the classic setstage ski_configmanagerinstance 1 with no luck as well, but I often find that command is a real coin flip to actually show missing MCMs.

 

I also tried untagging it as a .esl since I've run into trouble with them in the past and after using the configmanager command it did say MCM loaded 110 mods instead of a normal 109, but it still wasn't in there. I reinstalled the mod to make sure nothing was broken and to set it back to .esl since my test didn't seem to fix it anyway. I don't know if that may help at all tho.

 

I will also add that checking in slavetats the bimboskin set of tats does show as a selection so the mod is in there somewhere just the MCM won't load.

Personally I can recommend using menu maid 2 seeing that you use alot of mods with MCM.

I'll look into menu maid, but no I just use SkyUI, MCM Helper, and now Extended Vanilla Menus for use with Bimbo Skin. I also tried it without EVM and no luck there either.

That sounds quite similar to my minimum testing setup.

Which Skyrim version are you on?

Do you have all the "optional" requirement installed? If not can you try doing so to see if it has any effect?

Yeah I have all optional requirements installed and as up to date as possible since I use SE 1.59. When I went to double check nothing was outdated I noticed some mods such as PapyrusUtil have been updated a few times for AE (it's up to version 4.6) but haven't been updated for SE /1.59 in much longer (version 3.9). Could this be the issue?

I'm on 1.5.97 myself, so I don't think so.

Hm that's a tough case then. Based on your replies your setup is (except for the unrelated mods) identical to my basic testing setup. I started new games with it quite frequently during testing and never had the issue that it never showed up. I assume you also waited some time in-game before as well as trying the save and reload method.

 

Did you try using one of the earlier versions to check if this issue is potentially caused by an included change?

It's been a couple in game days and I've fully shut down the game a couple times so I don't think it's a matter of waiting. I did try everything from 2.0 to 2.2.1 and it still didn't show.

I'll create a new game in my full setup later today to check the behavior there. I wanted to add a minor change anyway so I'll go over the script again.

 

This will only be happen in ~8 hours earliest though.

I tested this in my "full setup" (as you can see in the screenshot in the spoiler i got a few .esp active so I wouldn't say its lightweight^^) and "unfortunately" the MCM loaded just fine, even without reloading the first save. Additionally you can see that even a second instance got loaded. Because of the UI its not visible in the screen unfortunately, but this screenshot was taken directly after creating a new character with Live another Life - Alternate Start in the prison cell.

 

EDIT: The second instance is the same as the unprefixed one. The only differences are variable prefixes and some additional older code snippets (which some still ended up in the "real" version)

 

EDIT 2: Just to make sure, do you use https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/106441 ? If not can you please try it with this? It slipped my mind that this might be a requirement on 1.5.97 too now, as I updated CK and xEdit in between.

I do use that mod as well. What is the load order you use between your requirements? Maybe mine's different and causing an issue for me.

My list is also not exactly sorted, because the current one started out as a test for a certain setup which was changed alot, but never caused any serious issues which would require a new game.

 

EDIT: Just to make sure, did you check if the plugin actually gets loaded? e.g. does 'help HaJo 4' yield any results in the console?

Ok thanks I'll double check my order with yours. But yeah I do get a handful of keywords and spells when I search it in console as well as an MCM quest. Maybe that isn't firing? I don't know how MCMs work under the hood tho so I could very well be wrong lol.

Like I said I'm no expert, but basically you have an (invisible) quest that should get added on startup (when the plugin is first loaded I guess). To this quest is attached the MCM script which creates the actual MCM page.

Using MCM Helper, this should happen even if the page is empty / the script does not directly interact with it. (MCM Helper "builds" the page based on the supplied .json)

Which version of MCM Helper are you using btw?

I can take another look at the quest to see if something broke in there, but since you seem to be the only one with this issue so far (at least I'd assume there would be more reports otherwise) this seems unlikely.

Yeah I'm starting to think it may be some sort of incompatibility in my load order, I'm on MCM Helper 1.5.0. sqv in console for the MCM quest reads:

Well, I can at least say that this is an "obvious" difference between our setups then, because I'm using MCM Helper 1.4.0 as 1.5.0 was giving me issues (can't remember if MCM did not work or I was having other issues, but in the end I did revert back to 1.4.0)

Actually, looking at the MCM Helper modpage, 1.5.0 does not seem to be intended to be used with 1.5.97:

Now, since you are using it with other mods it may not be a hard incompatibility, but the 1.5.97 version is specifically marked as a backport and only on version 1.4.0, so maybe you could try using that one to see if it solves the issue?
