How do I edit habs in Creation kit?

Specifically, I want to create duplicate 1x1 habs from each manufacturer that serve as "pass through" habs by deleting the spawn points for ladders.

 

I have this really annoying problem when building ships. No matter how I grab the hab and attach it to another hab, or spawn it in, or what ever, I can not get doors to spawn where I want them, they are always random, and it is even worse when you are trying to build a two or more level ship with that two level cockpit from Nova Galactic. I've noticed that sometimes if a ladder spawns right in front of where a door would normally spawn, you don't get a door there, unless it is the entrance to the cockpit hab. It's fucking annoying. So my thought was if I delete the ladder spawn point in some duplicate habs I can at least have some control over things.

 

I know about the "Place Your Own Doors" mod on the Nexus, but that mod does not work properly for me (some of the door attachment points don't show up in game), and it's too complex anyway, I'm just looking for something simple.

I think that ship habs should be cells in the ck. so if you finde the cell you can edit it.

The easiest way to not have ladders with that cockpit and a two level ship that goes all the way to the back, is to not install companionways. companionway allways come with the lader. If you have your cursor on a habs connection point and attach a new hub, the new hub will attach there. if you want 1x1 that dont have ladders you can use some coridors tha both nova galactic and deimos have. 

You have to be above lvl 60 to unlock them though.

I found a workaround for the problem I was having, but I didn't know that compaionways always have ladders, that's good to know.

Something you might find useful: The reason why ladders get placed like they do is because the cockpit, docker, and bay, all have to be connected to one another. So, as you're plopping parts, the game engine is trying to figure out a path between those three parts. If you build your ship up, deck by deck, with the cockpits and dockers being placed later on, your ladder placement will be insane.

 

So, instead of building deck by deck, build the skeleton of your ship first. Connect your cockpit, bay, and dockers before building out the deck. Once those three parts are connect, then build out each deck. Since those three parts are connected, the game should have no need to build the path for you.

 

EDIT: As it turns out, the ladder/door placement is set to try and make the shortest distance between cockpit, docker, and bay. As such, this advice may or may not help you, depending on your ship design.
