fultz Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 I got the latest upgrade I think it is the 984. I tried to downgrade the first one and for some reason, I couldn't get it to work so I decided to wait for the f4se upgrade. the f4se says it is compatible. but it's not working/starting up when I try to load the game. does anyone know how or what is going on and why it's not working? Also, one more thing does anyone have an updated compatible mod list, or where I can find one? I see the mod packs a nexus but none of them have any aaf or cbbe mods included.

fultz Posted July 4, 2024 Author Posted July 4, 2024 I read all of the posts thanks. if I understand right I can use the f4se and play without the dcl's or not use the f4se and find mods that don't. and any esl's in your game which do you prefer.

I think you mean dll's and you are right. Out of the thousands of mods for Fallout 4 there is a relatively small number that use dll files that would be incompatible. Before f4se was updated I was playing with only dll-free mods. It was OK, and the game ran flawlessly. However I do enjoy the adult content mods and many are dependent on other mods that do use dll files. So, that's what I prefer and it really wasn't that hard to get set up as most of the key mods were updated.
fultz Posted July 5, 2024 Author Posted July 5, 2024 one more question? what utilities are you using or are needed for the game not to crash.
rjn Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 I don't think I'm using any anti-crash or "fix" utility at all. I am not running any ENB graphics enhancer or even the Community Patch. The un-modded game should run fine with default settings. If it doesn't then I think the first place to look for a fix is getting FalloutPrefs.ini settings to be in tune with whatever quirk your PC has that's causing a problem. A handy utility that I do run is Game Configuration Menu which offers many quality of life settings for how the game plays.
