Spell
The era of the famous media-player "Winamp" will probably come to an end in December. A petition for lovers http://www.change.org/en-AU/petitions/aol-keep-winamp-alive-or-let-it-go-open-source Link to comment

Kamen Rider Kuuga
Been using WInamp for about a decade now. Just have to kill everything good, don't they... Link to comment
Teechan
Actually, you can still get every version of Winamp on OldVersion.com, and I'm sure it'll be mirrored like, everywhere Google can get you Link to comment
Rayblue
I'm still using Winamp, minus the bloat that came with the player. I enjoyed using it, I ranked it higher than iTunes or Media Player. Sure, I hear a lot of very good things about Foobar2000, but what irks me is that some of its fanboys are celebrating Winamp's impending demise, and whatever they comment puts me off from using it. Khiropter
i use Aimp instead of winamp. but it's sad to see it go Link to comment

Oh yeah, I'm fully aware that computers will no longer launch 32bit applications someday. (just like 16 bit apps from the Windows 3.1 days) That might take a very long, long time tho. There was a rumor that M$ was looking to buy the player. Not sure how thrilled I am over that. Link to comment
Lexi SubZero
I'm kinda surprised it held it's ground for so long. TBH...once I discovered KMPlayer in 2003, I never looked back... VLC is also great alternative.. Link to comment
Koko.Hekmatyar
VLC is mainly for video more then just audio. I've used Winamp for years Hard to believe it could die. However, Having said that it has been some time since winamp last got an update so I can't say this outcome was surprising. Link to comment
LordJerle
They were going to do a cloud music service through AOL (their owners), but that got scrapped as it wasn't deemed profitable enough. Link to comment

Shizune
Switched to foobar long time ago. My man. I've been using Winamp since like 2001-2002 when I got the Internet connection set up at home. One of the fundamental goods my brother showed me along with KaZaa and other things I don't remember. Switched to foobar circa 2010, I love how minimalistic it is. Link to comment
Spell
I still prefer Winamp as music-player and vlc is neat, but I use that only for videos. Link to comment

0xyd
I recommend to you all foobar2000, believe it or not this is the music media player that replaced Winamp as my default some years ago. Is light, supports any audio file and the sound you get out of it is top nocht. Plus: is highly customizable, give it a try. Link to comment
