Question about Skyrim Screenshots

Recommended Posts

Hey all, I just reinstalled Skyrim AE and cleared my mods on Vortex to reenable them because of a problem that sprung out of nowhere. Prior to doing so my screenshots were saved in my pictures/screenshot folder on my computer, they are now saved in my game directory. Just wondering what the change was and how I might revert it. The screenshots saved in my directory now are rendered at 2k instead of my games 4k resolution, my screenshots saved in a separate screenshot folder prior to my reinstall where rendered at the correct 4k. I think it has to do with the upscaler I'm using which is 2k->4k. Anyway, I just thought it was weird and wondered if someone knew how or why the screenshot directory would change like that and how to alter it.\

To clarify, the screenshots I'm referring to are not the steam f12 screenshots but the print screen screenshot.

I have something which saves screenshots to my game folder\screenshots as bmps and they also get saved as pngs to a folder I set set up. I think my ENB might be involved in this somewhere along the line and I seem to recall a setting in one of the ini files or Bethini.

Yes that's how it is for me. My skyrim directory has screenshots with bmps and I have a separate folder on my computer for pngs which also contains pngs from fallout 4 and I had some from cyberpunk in there too. I guess something in one of my inis changed and now my screenshot location is different.

So I figured it out. I found online that you can change the directory for screenshots by add the line SScreenshotBaseName=xxx under [Display] in Skyrim.ini. They are now going to my pictures folder as .pngs.
