N.Gamma Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Hi guys, I am thinking about playing Skyrim SE again in the future and am currently putting together mods that I would like to use. I came across OStim Standalone, which was still in its infancy the last time I played Skyrim, when I used SexLab Framework. So my question is which framework would you recommend and why?
Limbic2Node Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 Im on the finishing end of getting my game up and running and am currently trying out Ostim Standalone OSA, it's fantastic , smooth transitions and easy navigation much much better that then old OSTIM. You can have Sexlab Flower Girls and Ostim SA running together and I was going to , but don't see the need, OSA is far superior to either of the two. I'll install Flowergirls so I can use Shadowman's mods.

So if you run Sexlab and OSA together and you install a mod that has versions for both frameworks, you would prefer the OSA version, right? What about the animations, do they work with both frameworks or is there a compatibility mod? And what about the compatibility between two mods if, for example, mod A requires mod B where I have installed an OSA mod, but mod A uses SexLab? Edited June 13, 2024 by N.Gamma
Just Don't Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 IMO the best way to proceed here is to check which mods are available for each framework and pick based on that. SL has +100 pages of mods in the download section for Skyrim SE (and then some more in the download section for Skyrim LE...but there are dedicated forum threads compiling links and info, i.e. blue links in my signature), meanwhile OStim has most of its mods available on nexus (you can find most of them linked in the same OStim standalone description or install guide) and maybe a few in a dedicated OStim discord, not sure how easy to navigate that it is. Even though there are some bridge patches or versions for both framework you still need to pick 1 to lead the scene. If you want the same animations in both frameworks you basically need to install them twice. What happens if a mod A has versions for the 2 frameworks and mod B requires mod A, who knows. Maybe it's prepared to take input and features from both frameworks, maybe it was never meant to be used with one framework or the other.
libertyordeath Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 (edited) Simple checklist. Do you want: 1. Quantity over quality? 2. Creature support? Then go with Sexlab. Otherwise go with OStim. It's that simple. EDIT: Worth pointing out: Years ago the sexlab ecosystem had more devs than OStim. Nowadays it's the other way around: OStim has more active development than sexlab. This means the "quantity versus quality" issue will likely become irrelevant within a year. Creature support however will remain a downside of OStim, because even if basic functionality was added today, it would take years to port the relevant mods and animations. So this means: If you want instant gratification now, refer to above checklist. If instead you're thinking strategically and longterm, go with OStim unless you want creature support. So after some research I have decided to favor OStim and additionally install SexLab, because I like mods from Backafactory and also want creature support and there are probably no OStim versions there.
Nea_Bessy Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 In my build for SE, I use both Sexlab and Ostim at the same time. Such a combination is possible if you use Pandora instead of FNIS, Both products are experimental, but they both work together for me. Even DD5.2 managed to be connected (using OAR), After installing SSE Engine Fixes, my Pandora began to process almost 50 thousand animations All this works on AE, but it doesn't work with DD5.2 yet.
eflat01 Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 Hey N.Gamma love your work on Fusion Girl conversions. Anyway I'm in the same boat and since you asked the question and decided first, let me know what your thoughts are on this.
Kaotik Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 Let's bump this, I decided to go for Ostim and I'm pretty happy where I got to. Except I can't get any sort of defeat mods to work with it. OSimpleDefeat isn't working, neither is Yamete Redux, and those were the two that were supposed to work.
Judas Priest Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 You can use this mod to trigger Ostim scenes for Sexlab mods:

Kaotik Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 (edited) Looks like I crash before start menu loads no matter what if I install sexlab + sl defeat, no matter if acheron is there or not edit: got them working together (at least until menu, now it's time to start new game and see if it actually works too) Edited August 23, 2024 by Kaotik
