Can we please make this stuff more accessible again?

So, here's the thing. I've not played skyrim in years, so obviously I am far out of touch with the modding scene.

I still know how to set up my mods and so on but coming here I find an 'interesting' problem.

Nothing Makes Any Sense Anymore.

I look through something like DD, and find that neither version has been updated in years, but that apparently they are being regularly updated... in the comments.

Maybe I'm just weird but I feel like it's quite silly to be now expected to scroll through 400+ page forum threads to find the most recent version of any given mod, like guys what the heck?

Can someone please either explain how the site is supposed to be used these days, or make some sort of proper site index or any way to make sense of where to find updated mods now.

One year and a bit, but 5.2 is pretty stable.

and these days there's development of DDNG, away from FNIS, moving on the OAR, but as I'm on LE I cannot tell how beta that still is.

Yeah, its rough. Through some determined searching and browsing multitabbing, you can find them. Can be tricky finding the latest current version, for your skyrim version. I blame the AE update. BUT, some of the innovation of the mods After AE are great. Was that from what AE introduced? Was it just an inevitable step in the evolution of modder's capabilities? Was it SKSE? Did the SKSE crafters get fed up and write it into the code after Beth updated for the 45 time? Dunno, but anything NG is spiffy. If your on AE, you want the NG version of whatever your looking for.

I second this. I don't even bother trying to search anymore here. I just go back to Google and search from there. When the page I end up landing on has more than 50 pages of comments, first I cry a little bit, then I crack open a redbull and start trying to read through until I find the obscure post in a sea of hair-brained "I get crash when game start, broken mod, you fix!" posts.

Essentially, the site needs to be cleaned up a bit, and mod pages properly updated on their main page's downloads section. I don't know why, or when this stopped being the practice, but it is what it is. The site's free, and while I'd like it to go back to being a bit more efficient, I'm still happy to use it.

I have many things to say about this, but also i have become a bit lazy and cynic about this website - meaning i just can't be arsed anymore to make a spicy statement, get banned and spend time registering a new account.

Instead i wil just say this: In the general modding society, there are various benefits that modding can bring to a game. This community prioritizes certain benefits and ideals. Other communities have different priorities. In this specific case, you are preaching to a brickwall. Have a nice day.

I'd reccommend you just learn to use wabbajack and install like NEFARAM. then just mod it to what you want

Unfortunately this site is not as easy to use for modding compared to nexus. Many times you will find patches and bug fixes through one of the posts rather than in the main mod page's FAQ or "requirements". However, the latest updates for a mod are usually added to the main download section. I've never seen of a mod that doesn't add their latest update to the main page and instead only share the download in one of the comments.

If you're on SE, what you'll want to do is go on google and search for whatever mod you're looking for and then type "SE" next to the mod to get the direct link to the latest update for that specific mod.

You can also use:

If you're on LE. Boi what are you still doing on LE. I can assume that it will most likely be harder to find patches and bug fixes for said mods because it has a smaller community now.
