Game crashes when performing killmoves

Recommended Posts

I've recently updated skyrim from 1.6.640 to 1.6.1170 and it started to crash whenever killmove is performed. I Tried reinstalling violens, maximum carnage, xp32 and other body mods but still nothing. I don't know what should I do except disabling killmoves. Anyone knows what might be the issue from the log I added? Thanks.

There's been issues with decapitation in Skyrim for as long as I remember. I think you may find something if you Google this and try the things suggested for this issue group. Someone here on LL may also know something but I'm not one of those - I try to stick to the technical stuff as it were.

I do not believe its relevant but just in case it is, it seems in your case it crashed because form id 0xFF002AE2 "Northwatch Guard" lost her head.

Not sure what it would look like in the log if it was the cause but have you enabled face overlays in racemenu? As characters with a face overlay getting there head lopped off is meant to cause a CTD

So decapitations cause this issue? I looked for some solutions just now and it might be because of face overlays, as pinky6225 mentioned. But I don't know how to disable them though.

Yeah, I've looked it up and under most of these posts they say about these face overlays. So it's either disable face overlays, or disable decapitations? How do I disable overlays?

skee64.ini

[Overlays/Face]
iNumOverlays=3

I imagine that has something to do with it.

I use YPS so if I'd disable overlays on face it would not work, i think.

I've disabled decapitations but it still crashed.

in skee64.ini which should be in \Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data\skse\plugins

Overlays

; Determines whether face overlays are enabled
; disabling this disables the hook
bEnableFaceOverlays=1 ; Default[1]

Or as Traison mentioned setting the number to 0 prolly has same effect

[Overlays/Face] ; "Face [Ovl#]" and "Face [SOvl#]"
; Determines how many face overlays there should be
iNumOverlays=10 ; Default[3]
iSpellOverlays=0 ; Default[1]

I went for disabling kill moves myself but if you like kill moves then hopefully disabling overlays will prevent the CTD

The bEnableFaceOverlays=1 value as suggested by @pinky6225 is better than my previous suggestion.

Alright so assuming that is true and the latest crash was not caused by form id 0xFF000DDD "Sailor" losing his head then plan B would be to inspect anything expression and phoneme related: custom head meshes, head morph tri files, mfgfix and mods altering expressions and phonemes from Papyrus.

Edit: Still saying its decapitation related.

Well... Disabling face overlays breaks other mod that I use. I Guess I'll have to live with it, or think of something else. At least I know what is the problem. Thank you both for help.
