GladiatorUA Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 (edited) Last year around SS2 3.0 updates some AAF mods started behaving weird or outright breaking. The issue is that meta string AAF passes around with its events(OnAnimationStart and such) becomes empty for some unknown reason. This result in mods that use it getting confused. Examples: Nuka Ride breaks because it relies on meta strings to detect scenes as part of its quest, and if doesn't see them, those quests do not advance. Sex Attributes Framework partially relies on meta strings to figure out whether sex was consensual or not. If there is nothing in meta string, it defaults to animation tags, which are unreliable, and treats every aggressive animation as player being raped. Violate had the issues last year but implemented a workaround. EgoBallistic tried to investigate, search on AAF discord for "meta" and you'll find his posts from last year, but I don't know if anything came from it. There are probably more mods that break, especially less noticeably. As far as I'm aware, AAF and SS2 do not interact at all or share anything. Mere presence of first chapter of SS2 results in meta string being empty in AAF events. Out my experiments, even ripping out SS2 from modlist mid-playthrough, shitting 20+ megabytes of papyrus0.log, AAF will work as intended. The forbidden bridge mod works with SS2, passing meta string at least, but it's broken in other ways. Possibly because it bypasses AAF's excursions into Flash Action Script. Haven't found a fix or a workaround, so I'm leaving this here in case someone else has, and to document the issue. Edited May 31, 2024 by GladiatorUA 2
