Little problem with my New LG 27EA83R monitor 27 inch, IPS, 2560x1440

This my first monitor with 2560 x 1440 a upgrade from 1920 x 1080.

 

But i have little problem becouse of my old monitor which was 19xx resolution and prolly my pc still reconize this resolution not sure?.. the new monitor resolution is not detected?

 

If go config panel wanne change the screen resolution it have max 1920 x 1080 i dont have a option to change it to 2560 x 1440

 

Ive installed latest drivers and my videocard is AMD 7970 at moment still waiting for new 290.

 

In catalyst centre also max 1920 i have no option for 2560.

 

Tried unigine benchmark when i put it on 2560 it just go back to 1920 when i start?

 

How can i get or change it to 2560 resolution?

 

I know bit dumb but in this area im a noob sorry

You need a graphics card which can support that resolution, simple as that.

 

However the 7970 should be able to.

Did you use HDMI, HDMI can only 1080p and 720p in most cases. 1440 and others need DVI or DP as connector.

You need a dual link DVI cable specially built for that resolution. Or DP

Oh ok i got that cable with the two big connectors on it DVI i think ill look in manual again.

I see DP in/out cable

HDMI cable(already tested did not work)

DVI-D in/out this one is connected now but dont have 2560 resolution.

Do you have both monitors connected and cloning of the desktops enabled?

Thx guys much appreciated it was the DP cable i needed to use.

 

Now i got 2560

 

Ive looked up all the guides also on the disk and nowhere said the only DP cable give 2560 little strange.

 

Well everyday learn little more thx to you guys
