Starting from scratch on Anniversary Edition, a painful experience

Hi guys,

 

I'm not new in the community, I used to play modded Oblivion (Lovers with PK was so EASY compared to AE lol), modded Skyrim LE & modded Skyrim SE... But I lost everything few time ago (even the FO4) and started back from scratch.

 

And wow, modding AE is such a pain, I'm fuckin' outdated lmao... I'm on the case since one week, and I haven't wet played a good game.

I've found some lecture on the best load order and I'll do my own soon, but now I'm trying to fix what's wrong in my mod list order.

 

Few things are not working :

- Sexcraft, the central click doesn't work anymore (it was few days ago when I was bulding my modded game)

- Sexlab animations never start. Mods & animations are registered & configured, I bet on the modlist or the loadorder.

Rule 1 - don't install hundreds of mods and then start troubleshooting.

That's why I used to do it step by step. Everything works well, all NPC's are perfect with High Poly & KS. Sexlab is the last part, and since AE it became hell. There is so many different versions that work with an update and don't with another. I don't know what did Bethesda, but they broke a lot of things.

I'll try without P+, with the last OsmelMC Tweak Utilities... Let's pacth & see.

(It's always long to build and to mod an elder scroll, but honestly, with AE, It's like I'm back on Oblivion discovering Wrye and patches XD)

You got that Right, that's why I downgrade to 1.5.97 the real SE. Nexus replied to my email that AE and SE are the same game, my butt, I asked them why does it have a different name if it's the same game?  I was asking why they didn't categorize the AE mods on it's own header.

Bethesda is updating it so fast mod makers quit trying to keep up and are waiting for Beth to quit jacking with it, in my opinion, hell the latest even broke Halgari's downgrade patcher to the point of rewriting the whole thing.

If you decide to downgrade there are real good instructions pinned in the topic section of Downgrade patcher on Nexus.

I just went through what you are a few weeks ago, feel your pain.

Beth wants control of the mod scene to make Micro Transactions a revenue stream, so I guess that is the goal to arf things up for everyone.

Nothing different than any other update since 2011. When they update the game there is a new executable version. SKSE must be compiled for this new executable. SKSE plugins (the DLL part of some mods) must be updated too (in some cases it's not required, but for the most part you'll see new versions released for each game update).

 

You're likely using mods that weren't a thing a few years ago, while also holding onto old mods that you shouldn't really be using anymore without fixes or patches and such. You should test the things you're used to install are working fine, while also verifying the new mods are doing what you want without causing other issues or incompatibilities.

 

Step by step will always be the safest way to get a working modlist. By going all in to save time while installing you're only prepparing the scenario for spending weeks troubleshooting the problems later.

To be honest... First I tried to remod it in 1.5, but except the "forbidden" way, I cannot find a way with the legal version...

 

Then I decided to try for AE, it works pretty well now... At least, for what I've tested. Sexlab and animations work. The problem was P+ so I downgrade back the SexLab framework.

 

Is there a way to use P+ on AE or is it broken ?

 

I got a strange bug, my PC wear armor AND schlong when he's aroused. And I haven't found yet why ?

Immersive First Person View is broken on AE, it was a must have on SE. Even a small plugin to play with pad & keyboard, they change deep things, and it broke so many mods. It's cool because now the 255 limit from Morrowind and Oblivion looks to be far. ^^

 

I use MO since a long time, and I use to copy profiles and save Loadorder and modlist, so it's easier to troubleshooting. By the way, except the problem of schlong with armors (it's funny, can't hide lol).

I feel your pain. I'm on AE 640. It works but there's a lot more to swallow than it ever was on LE. I've got most of my LE mods working on LE but it took a lot of time troubleshooting with different dlls and mod versions. SoS, follow me for sex, m.c.g audio, immersive first person view among those that required most effort.

 

If you're interested I can find a link for that immersive first person view cam mod. It works okay.

If you follow the directions on the downgrade patcher Posts/Nexus, you upload 1.1.70 or whatever it's called, verify files on Steam, run the game on steam so it is not a cracked game, then follow directions and download files from Steams download depot, which will downgrade to 640, , then you can further downgrade from 640 to 1.5.97 and yes it is a lot of work but I save all my downloaded files as I manually download them and d & d into Vortex so all my mods are already to the 1.5.97 game.

They (Beth) screwed up a good game for some cheap ass gold armor and fishing sure there were a couple of other things but jeez what a cluster *%#!.

Do it one by one, let the 1st one finish downloading fist, then enter the 2nd one, once it finish, enter the 3rd one.

Then just replace your “steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition” files with the ones in “depot 489831” “depot 489832” and “depot 489833” in that

IMPORTANT: If you experience any kind of crashes CTD after downgrading, chances are you do not have BACKPORT EXTENDED ESL SUPPORT in your load order. This mod is now REQUIRED if you are playing on a downgraded 1.5.97 or 1.6.640 game (thanks bethesda). Grab it, install with your mod manager and you should be good to go (and make sure you have all the required dependencies which is SKSE and Address Library for your version of the game)

Which is nothing new. If you know which mods you want to use and they don't work in the current version you can downgrade. If you already have a modded game you should definitely stop automatic updates. This is only an issue if you're caught unaware. If I had to start from scratch now I'd pick whichever version has the most support for the mods I want to use and slowly add mods as I test everything works properly.

Thanks, but I'm modding AE for almost a week now, and I won't go back now. If I knew one week ago, I could be on last SE Edition, but as far as I tried to search content for this version, it was a bit hard outside loverslab. For example, on Nexus old version of the unofficial patch are no avaible (or I searched wrong lol).

Yes, that's the point. When you're used to a build, didn't follow the modding scene for a while and come back after a long time, you're lost like a new born x)

Now that I'm a little bit advanced, there is good things. It's faster, and it looks more stable.

 

I'm downloading few updates and mods, adjusting things. And I guess the game will look great with Modpocalyspe V3

It's patched now I guess. A bad plugin for SOS was the fault.

 

As far as I tried, it looks cool now. Sexlab works, physics is fine. Almost all patches are good for NPC (small updates and it will be cool)... So, let's go then to some trials with Modpocalypse (it's fully patched and NPCs looks very fine).

 

So, let's test again, and again, and again... ^^

My advice would be to leave LODs until last or at least until you are sure you've finished altering the built and natural environments.

 

I'm about 4 weeks in on a new SE 1.5.97 build (after 2 years away from Skyrim LE). Everything is about 90-95% done (I hope/think).

Great ! For Dyndolod, I forgot the idea, too much patching needed, no way... But I got a lot of dynamic animations to install

 

Modpocalyspe with Bijin and BHHH hit hard too, this version is light and very clean.

 

Except few disagreement with new updates or plugins change... It looks cool ! So, it worth the pain

Wow, in fact this new AE rocks so much... It's not the same game.

I mean with OAR and the UNLIMITED amount of animations is.... I don't play the same game, fighting was shitty, I used to broke swords stats to avoid fight everytime. But know, wow, it's funny ! Ok, I used the godmod, but I killed really easy all guards of the Riften Castle. I love this new 3D true directionnal and fighting system !

Hate to pop your balloon but the number of 'animations' depends on which mod is giving the number - different mods have different definitions of what constitutes an animation.

Sexlab has its own limit.

Nemesis can have it's limit increased or removed entirely via the ini edit. FNIS has a hard cap of 32k or something.

DAR had a hard cap of 16k? which later could be increased via ini edit too. OAR has virtually no limit.

 

But all of these are different limits, imposed by each mod or program. And the way FNIS or Nemesis counts animations is different to the way Sexlab counts them (basically a sexlab animation has different stages, each stage is a separate animation file, so SL counts the whole animation as 1 animation, but in FNIS you can see 3-4 animations per SL animation). So really depends on which limit you're talking about.
