Dodzh Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 Source: https://forums.nexusmods.com/topic/13464763-another-skyrim-update-coming-this-week/ Quote As a heads up, another update for Skyrim SE is on the way this week. Bethesda have said the following: Quote We hope to implement a Skyrim patch this week (The week of January 15th) to primarily address some reported issues with the new Creations menu. While we don't have the exact timing locked in yet, we wanted to give you a heads-up and will share more - including patch notes - with you soon. Thank you again for all of your continued feedback! 2
Mombasa69 Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 OMG, still waiting for 2 mods to be updated from the last update, knew this would happen, make sure you all turn off auto updates in Steam, and set it to only update when opening Skyrim from Steam, otherwise you're ******...
Omnishade Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 I would do the safe thing and move your install to another folder, in case the update screws up your mods.

But just today i checked skyrim, and it downloaded it yesterday by its own!!!! going to downgrade that shi* again and set the appmanifest to read only! 1
Dodzh Posted January 15, 2024 Author Posted January 15, 2024 well this was expected, the current update broke lots of things, make sure you have steam set not to auto-update
J4nek Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 I really really really hate them. After 2 years of the shitshow called AE i thought it would finally work, but no, after week of trying everything crumbled in most important points. So i tried to recreate my last build of 1.5.97, only to find everything also crash and burn too. It's like they really hate modders with passion despite all their games living solely by the mods (also confirmed by seemingly waiting for everyone to forget Starfield before releasing mod tools for that). 1
r3mind Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 I'm just glad I stay on the same version and never update. Also Talos bless modders who add backward compatibility (something Bethesda hasn't heard of): https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/106441?tab=description
tdkq413 Posted January 17, 2024 Posted January 17, 2024 (edited) How to avoid worrying about bethesda updates again (and have multiple installs on different versions of skyrim) 1. Have Skyrim in the state you want it (use downgrader if necessary) 2. Get root builder for MO2 https://kezyma.github.io/?p=rootbuilder. Restart MO2 3. Create an empty mod, open it and make a folder called 'root'. Copy and paste your entire game directory into the folder, so the structure is Mod/Root/Skyrim.exe, enable and move the mod to the top of the load order. 4. Reroute MO2 skse shortcut to the .exe in the mod folder Edit: 4.5. In the mod folder move contents of data folder (Mod/Root/Data/Skyrim.esm) to the main mod folder (Mod/Skyrim.esm) 5. Delete the contents of your steam skyrim folder and replace it with pizza.jpg Using this method updates will never touch you, and you can have multiple versions of skyrim in separate portable MO2 installs. I'm running Nolvus, old AE and 1.597 at the same time right now out of the same steam folder. Edited January 17, 2024 by tdkq413 2
J4nek Posted January 17, 2024 Posted January 17, 2024 I just finished setting up the mods afte 2 WEEKS OF TRYING and 3 complete reinstalls. Seemingly finally worked. I even set up everything to not update like it was said in guides. And it just updated. Words cannot express even a 1/1000000 part of my hate for Bethesda now.
NCK30 Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 So glad to be on LE right now... Finally uninstalled Starfield myself. Less than 1 page of mods a day already. Their new flagship is sinking, so they try hard to fuck up SE too.
libertyordeath Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 Meanwhile me on GOG 1.6.659: "Skyrim update? Oh noes. Anyways..." Yeah, i don't have access to CK, and someday mods will no longer by compatible with my version. I don't give a shit! 5 years ago i spent over 500 hours trying to get a stable SSE install and failed. This time not being a noob anymore i have spent 400+ hours trying to get a stable AE setup. AND NOW I SUCCEEDED! Everything works right now, and my game never crashes. There is no incremental bethesda shit or mod-feature that could make me give up what i have right now. If neccessary, i will just stop downloading anything and ENJOY PLAYING THE GAME.

Well, the other thing slowing up the mods for strafield is the fact that it still doesn't have a creation kit, so the mod creators probably already did all they could do without it.

I have tried 2 times now to get into the mood. Started new game and was kinda blown away. Yet both times I loose interest after about 60 hours. I can't tell You what the reason is. It just happens. I hear the same story from many other players on their Youtube channels. The same just happened with Baldur's Gate 3 for me. The game is great. But it is so slooooow to play. I need more action. Maybe that's why Elden Ring was more to my tastes. With Skyrim I always come back after a small break. Been playing since 2012.
Shonen17000 Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 (edited) Didn't say it wasn't the reason, said it wasn't the ONLY reason, there's a world of difference in meaning here. Also do i have to remind you how other games, very popular today, started? No, no i'm NOT looking at Cyberpunk 2077 (or... am i?) Edited January 27, 2024 by Shonen17000
