I prefer helping those who ask for help, and get concerned when people offer $

I've seen some posts recently with people offering to pay for help setting up mod lists.

first off, this seems to be a helpful community, with authors and creators making their work available. I'm going to stick to that community ethical standard.

what would really concern me is where there have been posts offering to share a desktop support session. Which has the risk of back hacking - some of the remote desktop software has backdoor/two way access. At the very least, your location/identity could be compromised for extortion, but there is the more extreme risk of someone getting access to your computer with trojans or ransomware.

as such, I'll continue looking out for people asking for help, just as I got help when starting here, but with the caution that if someone mentions $ or a desktop support session, or just as simple as not providing details of what isn't working, I'm suspicious.

While Im pretty sure the risk of getting back hacked is negligible and can easily be avoided by using the proper tools, there are other reasons why one should be vary of accepting such offers.

Namely, people who offer money to get their modlists set up are extremely impatient and unwilling to read a basic guide or listen to advice.
It probably wont result in something nefarious, but you will likely waste your time and brain cells with people like these.
