This is only my thought process and opinion about the builds that come with base game/expansion packs. The only point of existing houses is to showcase the build/buy items of the pack. To me, they are more like furniture store showrooms for the most part. To be honest, the builds going back to TS1 were not always the best. I think it's done intentionally so the player can remodel a place as they earn Simoleons or build whatever they want. I think it's supposed to set an overall mood, but I would think a superstar would have a more extravagant and luxurious looking home.
