head0nfire Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Hello. This is my first post so if it's in the wrong place, just tell me the right place and I'll move it. Some things about myself, if you care (kinda boring) My name is David, I'm 20 years old (maybe... I don't actually know when you're reading this), have a strong desire to make logical sense out of everything I can, and, apparently, care very little about most things most of the time. Having said that, I'm a pretty open guy; you can disagree with/question me about anything I say and I won't have a problem (I actually like having my words/thoughts questioned, forces me to keep thinking). I always try to handle communication by speaking my mind as directly and openly as I can, which sometimes creates conflict because many people don't seem to enjoy my unfiltered stream of thought. So if I start ranting, lemme know and I'll stfu (probably). So when I found this site about a week ago, I was amazed at how much stuff there was, and how good it all looks. But with all these different texture/body replacement mods and their abbreviated names, and incompatibilities with each other, and the fact that I've never used mods of any kind before, I'm just not certain of where to begin. So I was hoping to get pointed in the right direction from people who already know what they're doing before I start messing with my computer's innermost files. 1. Is signing up for a Nexus membership considered the only "safe" (non-virusy) place to pick up mods? 2: Is there usually - or ever - a fee to download individual mods? 3. Are there any prerequisite mods or software necessary for the other mods to work? 4. I'm looking for the most realistic-looking body replacer (not sure exactly what they call it). I assume this would be under the "models and textures" category in Nexus, but wanted to check here in case that's wrong. Thanks in advance to everyone who helps me out here. Edit: I'm talking about Skyrim. Just now remembered that this site works with other games.
ds64 Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Hi David, welcome to LL,Well I will answer based on what I know, 1. You need to sign up to download mods from nexus. About the safety, both nexus and LL are safe. ( maybe you need to read this, you can never be too careful with nexus... http://www.loverslab.com/topic/10134-banned-from-nexus/ )I never got any virus from LL and nexus though. I don't know if there is some people that have too much free time to upload virus disguised as a mod. But I don't worry about that much. The admin and moderator here is active most of the times, so I'm pretty sure they will remove it as soon as possible. 2. Nope, every mod is free, especially here, but maybe some modder has a donation account if you want to donate. 3. That's depend on the mod, please read the requirement description in the mod.

Lagoon0654 Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 1) No, nexus has a lot of adult mods. However you can turn this off at sign-up so those adult mods will be hidden. Be warned though, if someone has uploaded an adult image and it isn't "flagged" as such, you may see it. However nexus is usually pretty quick to edit or remove the image. 2) It's all free. However you can buy a premium account which will allow you to download from faster servers. But to be honest you probably won't need this. I can download at speeds of like 3mb per sec which is enough for me. 3) Not really. Some modders prefer you to use their Nexus Mod Manager, but in most cases a manual install can still be used. I rarely use the mod manager as it's a buggy piece of shit(for me anyway). And some mods may need other mods in order to work. This includes official game DLC, but these are usually listed in the mods description page. 4) Yes the body mods tends to be under the models and textures category. Don't ask me for whats "real" cause I like to play with giant tits and asses.
