eluzivo Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 well, I have quite some time in the forums, mostly as leecher and lurker but I got desperate on getting a modification to a custom armour I love:Lustmord vampire armour original link from nexus: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/25852/? I want to add BBP to it, but as I was going through the tutorial to do it (found on this forum BTW) I could not find the .nif files anywhere in the game folder and on the mod rar there are no .nif files and as I have been finding it hard to find tutorials on adding the bbp I dont know what to do now with my lustmord cuirasscbbe_0.nif so I would like to get directed towards a tutorial or get explained what I should do, if possible. thanks in advance. (PS: hope this is the right subforum to post this)
Vioxsis Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 The .nif is in the .bsa use bsaopt http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/247/? to unpack the bsa. And i don't know if there are any tutorials specific to adding bbp to meshes, but a tutorial on weighting in general should be all you need.
eluzivo Posted October 10, 2013 Author Posted October 10, 2013 well I managed to change it ingame, but definetively made a huge mistake somewhere as all I see now besides serana's face is a huge red sign with a white admiration simbol, still at least I know how to edit the stuff, now I must discover how to do it right thx.
Bob Minos Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 You just put your mesh in the wrong folder. No biggie. It needs to be in the same location that it is in the .bsa file. For Lustmord, it would be: Data\meshes\dcvrworks\lustmord\f You will get an overwrite prompt when placing the edited mesh in the folder if it already exists. If it doesn't exist, go ahead and make the sub folder path and place it in the f folder.
Vioxsis Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 The exclamation mark usually means there is something unexpected in the nif.
eluzivo Posted October 10, 2013 Author Posted October 10, 2013 well I managed to get my hands on the pdf guide intead of the imageless guide that remains on site, but then the fire natio... errr well the npc I gave the armour to looked like crap, changing weight to 0 (as so far Im only testing the _0.nif) set it right BUT there was no armour, it was completely see through, like it wasn't wearing a thing, I'm uploading the "finished" nif to see if anyone can point me to were my mistake(s) is(are).BTW thanks for the help so far. edit: Im adding the 2 screenshots of the issue screenshot 1742 of serana with the armor as how it shows screenshot 2131 how it shows after I use setnpcweight 0 cuirasscbbe_0.nif
Vioxsis Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 The armour has no skin data at all. And the reason it never showed up is because the BSLightingShaderProperty shader flags 1 has "skinned" set. But because it has no skin data it could not be rendered in game.
eluzivo Posted October 10, 2013 Author Posted October 10, 2013 but part 2 of the tutorial says to erase the skin (on 3dmax) http://www.loverslab.com/topic/3129-modding-armor-for-chsbhc-bbp-tutorial-for-3ds-max/ is it wrong? or did I do something else wrong?
gregathit Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 You have to erase to be able to import it into Max. However you need to reset it after exporting.
Vioxsis Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 b3lisario Re-posted that tutorial here http://www.loverslab.com/topic/20867-recovered-modding-armor-for-chsbhc-bbp-tutorial-for-3ds-max/ And in the tutorial it says to delete the skin modifier on the clothes and then copy and paste the skin from the body. But if all you want to do is add is bbp to the armour than adding the breast bones to the skin modifier that is already there, and applying some weight to them will be the easiest way.
eluzivo Posted October 10, 2013 Author Posted October 10, 2013 damn, that happens when one wants to follow a tutorial without the Images, you just keep making mistakes, thanks for the help, and could you tell me where do I find a tutorial on that easiest way you say, or tell me the steps to follow to do it? thanks in advance.
Vioxsis Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 A quick tutorial First select the armours skin modifier, and click add button. In the list that pops up navigate to the breast bones and pick them. Next click the edit envelopes button, put a tick in the vertices box and select the middle vertex on the breast. hit the grow button a few times until it covers the breast. pick the breast bone you want to add weight to and scroll down an click the weight table button. in the window that pops up, change to "selected vertices" and then select all (ctrl - A) In one of the entries under the breast bone change the number to 0.100, then hit shrink and type 0.200. and keep going in that fashion until you get to about 0.500 do the same for the other breast. The more weight you give it the greater the breast bone will effect the mesh.
eluzivo Posted October 10, 2013 Author Posted October 10, 2013 it would seem like I need to know a lot more before I can make full use of this little tutorial of yours, there are many things that seem to be obvious to you but my lack of practice and experience make it not so obvious for me, like after doing the changes you say, I have to export it like on the other tutorial?, or some different settings?, then I have to continue with nifscope part of the other tutorial anyway right? do I follow all steps? or just some? I believe more experience with modding and using 3Dmax and nifscope will help me there, still will save your small tutorial as a pdf just in case it takes too long for me to reach that level. thanks so far. I havent finished it yet, as Im advancing in free moments during my workday, but when I finish I guess I will post it here so you see how well I did with your help and how much do I still need to get good enough.
Vioxsis Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 I tried to make it as beginner friendly as i could. To add some more steps Import a bbp skeleton making sure the "Import_Skeleton" is ticked on import. Then import the armour with the "Import_Skeleton" un-ticked on import. Other than that keep the settings shown on cherrys tutorial the same. Then follow the above tutorial i posted. And you can then follow the part of cherrys tutorial on exporting and editing the nif in nifskope.
eluzivo Posted October 10, 2013 Author Posted October 10, 2013 yeah, thanks, the part on the skeleton and armour I discovered through logic and observing the screenshots you posted, and as I know about using different paths and programs I dont tend to assume that I need to only change the steps mentioned and do the rest the "common" way, still I am currently trying as you just said, though I find some trouble here and there, but for the most part I try to solve by myself. I have asked so much right now that I already feel like Im abusing the help rather than getting advice ^^U
