How do you REALLY install OBSE?

So, I've read wikis, looked at Steam forums, seen videos, read the obse read-me, and done everything they said to do, but OBSE still fires up my launcher. The cmd screen stays open too. I use Steam. I got the file I'm supposed to overwrite the loader with (which was another loader), and used it, but it's the equivalent of running the game launcher. I have 0 mods installed. wtf?

With Steam you don't use the obse_loader.exe.

You follow the instructions written in the OBSE archive readme.txt file for steam installations.

After following those instructions you then launch the game via the "play button" on the steam game page.

Hmmmm.....all vids show the game skipping the launcher, like in Skyrim. Oh well. "Play" button it is. Thanks. :) Time to go install the long list of mods you made gregathit. ;) Thanks Truth and greg. I got the game an hour ago. The deluxe bundle or whatever.

Should I leave the steam-loader.dll in, or rename it/move it? (as I've read)

From the OBSE v20 readme.txt:

IF YOU ARE USING THE STEAM VERSION OF OBLIVION:

1. Copy obse_1_2_416.dll, obse_editor_1_2.dll, and obse_steam_loader.dll to your Oblivion directory. This is usually "C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\common\oblivion".
2. Ensure you have enabled the Steam community in-game, or OBSE will fail to load. Go to Steam > Settings > In-Game and check the box marked "Enable Steam Community In-Game".
3. Launch Oblivion via Steam or by running Oblivion.exe. OBSE will automatically be run along with Oblivion when launched. To disable this, rename or move obse_steam_loader.dll.

I see now. For some reason, I thought disabling was a step. Like the launcher was not supposed to fire up at all, and I was supposed to "disable" it after running the game through Steam once with the dll in it. Shows what I know! Thanks again guys. :)

And yes. That quote is exactly what I was referring to. :P
