Neptune Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Im having some strange issues with LOD and Infinite Loading when I attempt to fix the LOD issue. Ive never had either of these problems as I'd like to believe I install mods intelligently and have a pretty powerful computer - i5 3570, 8gb ram, gtx 660 2gb, with skyrim installed to a 250gb SSD. W764, no firewall issues, no permission issues. The Images below will illustrate my problem. Goes like this, start a new game with uGrids on default 5, sees terrible LOD everywhere, even with skyrim launcher settings on ultra. Thought was custom ini tweaks needed for a few mods, so deleted those altered ini files, still getting LOD problem. Then I attempted to change my uGridstoLoad from 5 to 7 (and ofc updating the buffer to 64) in order to combat this terrible looking scenery, loaded a previous save and apparently that fixed the problem but now get the Infinite Load bug when trying to start a new game. Ive tried a few LOD improvement mods instead of the uGrids fix, but they didnt seem to really combat this issue. Im also using ENBoost, with the enb effects OFF - and Im still getting this issue. So basically, is there a way to address this LOD problem without increasing my uGrids from 5 to 7? And why am I getting Infinite Load by simply upping my uGirds up a few notches?? Surely with my small amount of mods and powerful computer I could handle the jump from 5 to 7? Also, Ive never had this issue before, and in the past Ive had far more mods then I currently do with my current list so the reasoning of 'its reached the hardcoded 3.1 gb limit' seems like nonesense. But if you disagree take a look at my mod list below - perhaps its something simple like a dirty mod causing all this trouble? I wish. These plugins are recognised by BOSS and have been sorted according to its masterlist. Please read any attached messages and act on any that require action. Veladarius Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Look in the SkyrimPrefs.ini file and see what the draw distances are set at, especially any with LOD in them. I also found some helpful information for adjusting when things appear on screen: http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/35760/how-can-i-extend-the-view-distances-further
Neptune Posted October 3, 2013 Author Posted October 3, 2013 Increasing those settings in the .ini is what appears to be causing the infinite load when starting a new game. With Skyrim Performance Monitor I can see ENBoost has reduced ram usage considerably, even with uGrids raised to 7. Infact its lowered it so much ram useage is below the level it was when uGrids was still on 5 - which leads me to believe theres a 'bad' mod in my load order, or Ive gotten some deep bug/problem with the Skyrim install itself an need to re-install the entire thing.
CGi Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 if you play around with uGrids, like everyone with suitable hardware does, you might want to consider using Stable uGridsToLoad. Even if you don't change uGrid settings, this little SKSE plugin makes the game a tad more stable and smoother running.
Spartan 363 Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Have you tried Overclocking your GPU and CPU? Once you start installing many mods, especially HD textures and ENB's, Skyrim will bring most average (Yours would be considered an average gaming PC) PC's to their knees. Try Overclocking both first if you haven't yet. Also try this, maybe it can resolve your issues, but it says your PC will take a 10% performance hit, OC should balance this issue if you haven't. Skyrim is more CPU intensive than GPU. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19446//?
