ive managed to finally get clean files outtve the zipped archive, but after watching the video on split volume archives that comes with the files, it explains NOTHING, dude legit just opened the first one with 7 zip then deleted all the files, the files that come with the first download was an archive, and the other two are loose files, they look nothing alike

oh ty but i got that part haha

the 2nd pic i shared was the files from the first part after extracting them into thier own folder along with the other 2 parts and thats how it ended up for me, im using winrar, the first file came through after downloading as a zipped archive that i could open, the other parts came through after download as 002 file and 003 file which i cant do anything with, ill give it another go and see what happens

EDIT: right i did exactly that and ended up with another zipped archive with the same files as ive already extracted inside, im gunna take a logical guess and assume im either adding the other 2 parts to this archive OR that archive is all i need, which would be confusing since then there wasnt any reasonto also download the other 2 parts

Your fourth file in the vid, i.e. the one at 263,115KB is the result of combining the first three files. This fourth file is the one with the (complete) mod in it. This is the one which you should now install.

You should not have to extract this as your mod manger will install it.

Yeah I'm done with this shit, it's just not working. Tried about a hundred different ways. Still both winrar and 7zip or any other app doesn't want to open or repair as archive. I get some stupid error saying winrar can only repair rar and 7zip files. The other app said this file corrupted, can't be opened as archive, is some other file they can't recognize or something like that. I don't want to throw my PC in the wall so I'm out.

Ye gods. How can people still be struggling with this?

You do not extract anything.

You download the 3 parts of the archive. Download and watch the friggin' video.

You right click on one of the archive parts and select open archive.

You then end up with another much larger archive which is the sum of the combined parts.

You then install this 263MB archive with your mod manager as you would with any other mod.

You can now delete the other 3 parts of the archive.

I think the confusion is that it is easy to believe that since you only clicked on one file, it only extracted one file. This is incorrect. The three files are linked, and the extractor has that information in the first part of the split volume file. When you go to extract that, the information stored in that file tells the extractor to go find the rest of the data in the other two files. It extracts all of them together. Grey Cloud is absolutely correct (I've done it, and it works).

You put all three files in one folder and extract part 1. This effectively extracts all of them, and you should get a new file (zipped) that is approximately 263MB. That is the correct (and complete) file. Drag that to your mod manager (Vortex, MO2, or whatever), and it will install just like any other mod. Everything just works (assuming that you also installed the other necessary required mods like SL and Creature Handler).

The issue for me is that the 001 file is corrupted, and unopenable. The combined file after opening 001 through 7-zip is also unopenable, and cannot be installed at all.

Do you mean you cannot 'open archive'?

Does 7zip say it is corrupted?

If it is corrupt then have you tried downloading it again?

  1. Modding and attention deficit disorder are not compatible.  If you don't have the patience, modding Skyrim is not for you.  Skyrim is 13 years old.  The more ambitious modders are, the more they'll be hampered by this website's 250MB upload limit.  Adapt and persevere or just give up and stick to console gaming.
  2. Download the 3 split volume files for MNC.
  3. Once the 3 volumes are downloaded, double-click on the .001 file.  It will open in 7zip, WinRar or whatever archive manager you have installed.  Once downloaded you never have to interact with the .002 and .003 files again.
  4. The contents of the archive will list the MoreNastyCrittersXXXX.7z file. Click and drag the file from the archive to some other location.  It will extract it from the .001, .002 and .003 volumes automatically.
  5. Add the extracted .7z file to your mod manager.

Authors are forced to use split volumes because this website caps uploads at 250MB so authors either use split volumes or host them elsewhere.  Modding Skyrim requires patience.  Full stop.  Also, your first post makes it clear you are using SE.  This forum is for classic Skyrim/LE.  In the future you should post your issues in the technical support forum for your game version to increase your chances of getting prompt help.
