Thank you for your time to even look at this message,

Down to business

Is there a way to make this ComplexSaveData_Slot_00000003 into a save game? I accidentally overwritten my saved game and this is the last hope I have ~cringes and cries~

I now know to copy and paste all saves when I wanna play a new game. I put so much effort and time in that game over 72 hrs worth and no warning when making a new game that it will delete the other saved game.

Lesson learned I don't even wanna shut down my pc afraid I'll lose all hope of restoring my game.

When you say "overwritten", what exactly do you mean by that? Did you "overwrite" it by saving in-game or did you actually copy some files into the saves folder, replacing the ones that were already there? Or did you just start a new game and now that "Continue" button with the Sim portrait next to it loads that new save, because it's the one you played most recently?

If you started a new game and you want to continue the old save, don't hit that "Continue" button, but instead select to load a saved game in the main menu. This will show you a list of all saved games, allowing you to load any of them. The game doesn't actually overwrite an entire save on its own, so it's perfectly safe to start a new game (that's what those "slot numbers are for, btw).

If you saved in-game, overwriting an existing file, your previous saved game might still be there, unless you saved the game more than four or five times, overwriting all the backup files (that's what those save files ending with ".ver0", ."ver1" and so on are, btw). You can easily check this in-game, also by choosing to load a saved game instead of simply continuing where you left off. Next to the two buttons for loading and deleting the saved game, you should see another circular button (if not, click on the picture of the last played household once). Click that circular button and a list of all backup files for that save will appear, each of them showing the name of the saved game, date when the save was made and last played household at the time of saving.

If you find one that corresponds to your old saved game before overwriting, hit the button on the right to restore it and confirm to create a new save that you can then load.

If you modified the contents of your saves folder by replacing files, this might still be worth a shot, as you might not have overwritten all of the backup files (i.e. the new save only had two backups and the old save had more). You will lose some progress in this case, because the most recent version of your saved game will definitely be lost due to overwriting it with the other file, but at least there's a chance that not all of 72 hours you spent on it will be lost.
