Calling out all Texture experts!!

Hi,

I just installed this NPC male replacer pack. There are some real gems in this pack.

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/97349

But it has a major problem. Head textures are taken from multiple sources. Not sure they are blended properly. This causes a major discoloration of the heads.

I fixed this (At least I thought I did) by making the Facetint brighter.

Can anybody explain why it is fixed within close distance and really red at longer distances.

Here are pictures to show the problem. Never seen this before.

Close distance - Fixed

Longer Distance - Ugly red head color - Drives me insane

I would compare the shader properties of the body mesh and the head mesh (vertexcolors, glossines, specular etc.) and the shader flags
Also check if the textures have mipmaps.

Can You see something wrong from these screenshots. I have admitted Body and Facegen Head nifs.

There were no mipmaps in the Facetint dds. I made my change and exported with these settings. Don't know if I missed something.

GIMP Language is Danish. Sorry!!

Komprimering = Compression

Format = Format

Gem = Layers

Filter = Filter

Ombrydningstilstand = Don't know really

Gamma = Gamma

Alfatæsktærskel = Alphas

By doing this and making the face parts from Addvar brighter by 10 + generate mipmaps I have next to no discoloration even at long distance.

I thank You. I don't think I will be able to fix it entirely.

In Gimp, the mipmaps can be seen on the right - as layers. Or are these the mipmaps you created afterwards?

In Nifskope there are some differences.
For example Glossines, Specular Strength, Lighting Effect 2.

PS: Your Nifskope is outdated. The current version is 2.8.

Oops - I was probably too late.

Thanks to You and Harvald I have now fixed 4 NPC's already.

I change the values on the Facegen head nif to match the body. Then as of now I have simply made his diffuse files 10 steps brighter and generated mipmaps with default settings.

Addvar, Skulvar, Erikur and Sibbi are 95 % fixed now. It's not going to get any better than that.

Shader Settings for Facegen nif (MaleHeadNord block) are

Glossiness = 23.00

Specular Color = 0.663 / 0.855 / 1.000

Specular Strength = 4.500

Lighting Effect 1 = 0.400

Lighting Effect 2 = 2.000

His Diffuse files are in 6 folders. old, old1, old2, old3, old4, old5 and old6.

You are probably right. I have never had a reason to upgrade with what I use it for.

I remember this was a special build I needed for some important mod many years ago.

I have a newer version on my SE build. Just never play SE.
