New to HP Head (and to Racemenu sculpt): resolving sculpt issues

Newb to both and I need a bit of help/advise/etc

 

I recently installed Highpoly head but have had little use so far. that is, until today when I did start fiddling with HP head presets.

 

I'm running into some issues when editing the sculpt (ie open sculpt, F9> pick appropriate head model), as shown (one example) in the snapshot below

 

Also, although possibly unrelated and "by design", the checkboxes don't check/uncheck, regardless of trying my mouse or using the T for toggle hotkey.
