Sudden sexlab and menu lag.

Has anyone experience a sudden slowdown of systems out of nowhere?

• Magic and item menu taking a moment to show up.
• MCM menu stuck in a blank state.
• Sexlab and Sexlab based mods slowing down.
  • animations taking forever to switch phases.
  • defeat's change animation button doesn't show the menu.

 

This doesn't happen at the start of the game, a mod, one for sexlab, is definitely doing it. I want to know if anyone else is experiencing this and possibly find the culprit.

Baka mods are the top suspects. Approach just fails to trigger sex scenes and dialogs are skipped, so when they ask for sex they just say their word and leave without sex.

Everything you mentioned is implemented in papyrus, so:

1. Profiler
2. ReSaver. Look for active instances.
3. Edit: Papyrus log potentially but I wouldn't start here.

yes, I have, and when it happens, a fallrim "review" most often shows that my save has become innundated with excess stacks and frames

Note the 54552 and 800062. The numbers should be in the tens or hundreds max.

 

As to why... I have no idea. It often occurs after a fight of some sort. And at least for me, it usually happens (or starts to happen) in exterior settings.

Some vanilla scripts for instance wait for stuff in While loops when they really should be using OnUpdate. Booh, this looks terrible.

Be aware, there are dragonactorscripts fixes on nexus, which do more bad than good.

This script loops and causes all your suspended stacks.

 

Check which stacks/scripts got dumped. Depending on this, I would trash the saves or proceed.

I remember a fix which had an unthrottled while loop, deadly for other scripts.

 

BTW, I got max active scripts 12, 10 of those zapunderneath when I undresses and save right after it.

Normally 1 to 3 active scripts.

Random emotion and head tracking are usually the ones of the active.

Script bottlenecking of whatever kind is (or seems) to be the functional issue, yes. and tradloops are a likely contributor (while, until, if-then, goto, etc). They're convenient and "easy" programming and often the first choice for those new to programming (dismissing those situations where they can't be avoided), rather than a more advanced technique like using interrupts (I'd presume that OnUpdate uses that or refers to a subordinate function that does so in its internals). Not to say that higher-level programming language loop structures (ie, while, until, etc, as opposed to low level stuff programmers rarely see or interact with anymore) don't have their place, since they're often the best choices for an iterative calculation, a background analytic,  or for UI pathing in "static" situations. 

 

But that's all academic.  My own solution is to check for the last savefile prior to the explosion of stacks from which ever errant mod/mods/skyrim-itself and load it instead, shrug, mutter a few choice words of discontent, and "accept" the waste of two or three hours of progress or a really good exploration of fringe areas (not out of game but not where the main quests and side quests usually occur)... although frankly, it happens all too often.

 

 

When I say "I have no reason why" I say it because I've become a serial avoider of conflict, and sharing my opinions (without writing a novel to defend them) often has the effect of starting an argument, even when what I'm saying is right and true, not because I don't have some clue as to why. I just lack the vocabulary or patience to explain what my opinion on the subject is...and as I might have noted before, I'm a bit burned out on the whole programming scene

 

@Tlam99 Dragonactorscript is only one example. I've seen others implicated as well.

I got Profiler. generated a log Skip30sec_Profile5mins_Profile_1.log 

don't know what to spot. looks to me like I just have too many mods.

This script loops and causes all your suspended stacks.

 

Check which stacks/scripts got dumped. Depending on this, I would trash the saves or proceed.

I remember a fix which had an unthrottled while loop, deadly for other scripts.

 

BTW, I got max active scripts 12, 10 of those zapunderneath when I undresses and save right after it.

Normally 1 to 3 active scripts.

Random emotion and head tracking are usually the ones of the active.

I should probably remove some of my questionable bug fixes then. The end goal here is to find the offending mod so it can't hurt future generations of save files.

While loop is not a bad thing, however, there must be a saveguard.

If I use it, I always integrate a limit, like less than 5 and integrate a counter into the loop.

The point is, onupdate() has a function for 1 thing to do. You cannot have different onupdate() in a script.

Maybe states, but this depends on conditions again which make it more vulnerable than a counter for simple things.
