You should try GS Animations ?  .  Some require DAR, but not these

Works fine, also replaces a few mods you would have to install separately otherwise.

Only an issue if the mods included in the patch ever get an alternative or a newer version.

It's the new toys framework that comes with SLAL packs that causes duplicates with billy.

It's about the vanilla start - which is completely unsuitable for testing.

that's why one of the first mods for me -> LAL is "live another live" ... to test the other mods.

my suggestion was also for complete mod newbies ... I still do it myself today ... because my installed mod groups often consist of only 2-3 mods that are directly related to each other.

Oh I tried so many replacers/DAR n stuff

I just settled on the simplest solution so I can be sure they just work instead of adding a new lvl of possible errors.

AH, yeah, but he has one installed, one of the more complex but useful ones.

Ppl on LL use so many that I had to list a few I tried myself.

An alternative start mod:

• Realm of Lorkhan - Freeform Alternate Start
  • gives also enough time to load all mods before moving on to Skyrim
  • also useful to teleport around Skyrim via Crystals that are distributed all over Skyrim
  • it is always possible to return to the Realm
  • ⚠️ last version I tried changed one weather type or adds one
• Alternate Start - Live Another Life 3.1.7
  • alternative download
  • lots of LL addons
  • works reliable (choose starts unrelated to modded starter locations, like taverns)
• Skyrim Unbound Reborn
  • recommended by @wutpickel, @HexBolt8 and @BigOnes69
  • now with starter cell!
  • Option to start as a "not the Dragonborn"

  • new Alternate Start

I still think AS-LAL is the most reliable if it comes to just play around.

So it's stable now? I had some issues IIRC, but it just looks so good.

Might also be that mods had issue with it instead the other way around. I remember it was a experimental Babo LO, which didn't get old ?

This is exactly why I recommend it and use it myself.

However, one must always explain a circumstance to newcomers when using mods:

The created and saved character in the dungeon cell may already contain the errors of an incorrect mod installation.

Even if this faulty or unwanted mod is deactivated or de-installed ... the error still hangs on the memory state....

..even a changed loading order of the plugins

that's why it is really necessary to generate the character again and again even when using such "start-helps"!

You dont have to play a Dragonborn character if you do not want to. Also other mods that have alternate starts if they have a start esp you can deactivate them start in Skyrim Unbound and finish that start then save leave the game activate the other start esp lower in the order and it will start there. I have done it with several other start mods and it works. Very handy to play long DLC mods created by others.
